I am planning my first ever cruise to Alaska in June 2005. I will definately be on Princess, but 4 ships are sailing the itinerary that I want. Another decision!!! I have my choice of "Dawn", "Island", "Sun", or "Coral". Any opinions out there?? Any and all help would be appreciated.

I don't think you could go wrong with any one of those ships. I have done the Sun and Dawn in Alaska and it was great. The Island and Coral are a little bigger and newer but the Sun and Dawn are still in good shape.

All are good choices, in my opinion. Since Ive already sailed the Sun (Sun and Dawn are just about the same), I think I'd choose one of the others. But I loved the Sun so.... good luck with your decision.

I would chose either the Island or Coral both are new . The Island is the newest one.

I would get a balconey if possible. But in the hold is good too. I live in the hold as HC cabins are few and far between. I cant afford the balcony ones normally. I cruise by myself so I pay big time.

Capt Data... If you'd find yourself a traveling companion, you COULD afford a balcony instead of paying single fares. Yowsa!

i can say that you should be careful of the dawn "balcony" cabins...they're so tiny 2 of us had a hard time getting around. if going on her, spend the extra on a mini-suite, but be advised there aren't too many of them...they are, however, great, two room configuration and 370 sq ft. good luck. am doing a mini-suite on the star nov. 28 and hope this one is ok...know it's smaller at 323 sq ft. but will be better than the regular balcony on dawn.

We loved the Dawn and had a great aft minisuite. Other family members had standard minisuites and really enjoyed them, also.

I would definitely recommend the Island or Coral. We were on the Island last year southbound and it was our best cruise ever. We sailed through the Panama Canal on the Ocean (sister to Dawn & Sun) which is now over with P & O. Both were nice, but the Island was the better of the 2. Enjoy!
