We leave for Alaska 8/1 on the NCL Star. Family of 15. We would love to do the early morning White Pass train ride but are wondering if we would still have time to do the Mendenhall Glacier. We are there 7-5:00 p.m. Has anyone tried this combination and do you have any suggestions.

Also, my kids would love to do a dog sled ride. Any suggestion there? You guys are always a great help!

Hello,

These occur in 2 different towns. Mendenhall Glacier is in Juneau and White Pass Railway is in Skagway.

If you do the early morning White Pass trip you'll be back by the ships by noon and will have time to do other tours or exploring. We loved the train trip.

At the docks you can board a local bus to Mendenhall in Juneau for 10 bucks a head round trip. There is an extra charge to go into the visitor center.

You can easily budget time to visit Mendenhall and set up other activities as well.

If it's clear out and if you're not afraid of heights you should go up the Mt. Roberts tram. This boards right at the dock in Juneau as well and the view is spectacular.

All the towns you'll stop will have easy access walking tours for shopping, etc. Very easy to reach most sites.

Enjoy your cruise...we love Alaska

SORRY!!! You are right. I meant to say the White Pass and there is a glacier trip w/dog sledding in skagway. I was wondering if we could do both. So sorry for the brain freeze:)

Of course I've never had brain freeze before :^)

IMHO you'll have time to do both activities in Skagway although we didn't do the dogsled.
