I am looking to book a RCCL cruise in the next month. For my last cruise, I booked on line with a company that went out of business so that was pretty scary. Thankfully it all worked out, but naturally I am a little leery to book on line again. Any suggestions for a good company to go with? Thanks!

Hi,

We went with vacationstogo.com. It was a great experience. My agent was Casey Weeks. The best thing was they were cheaper that Royal directly. And when the prices went down, I would just e-mail Casey and he fixed up our accout accordingly. It was great service.

Regards,

Nadia

I did my last one, or should say next one since I haven't gone on it yet, through RC website. It was the easiest thing I've ever done. You can pay whenever you want in as many installments as you want. And if there is a price adjustment just call them up and say hey I noticed it went down can I get the new price. That's what I did. I was in a promenade room and then the different prices were up just last week and so I called and was able to upgrade to a balcony for only $140 more. So that's my experience.

I also book directly...TAs CAN NOT discount the fares...........some do offset that by offering perks........

I like being able to call RCCL practically 24/7.............

I just made a reservation online on the Royal Caribbean website. When I clicked to submit the reservation, a travel agent's information was listed on my reservation with a comment that all payments are to be made through them. I have no idea how they were listed on my reservation, but I am a bit peeved that my personal information is now part of their records. I hope my credit card information was not given to them, but I have a feeling that since I made a $200 deposit, they may have access to that number.

Next time I book a cruise, I will call the cruise line myself and have them do the booking. Now I have to ask this travel agency to release the booking. They said they would, but they kept trying to talk me into keeping the booking with them.

Is this an Agency you have used in the past? I know when I have booked onboard they always ask if I want to use my current agency or RCL direct... that is the only reason I can think of that there would be any agency attached to your booking....

I've had great success with CruiseCompete.com where travel agents bid for your account...the most perks wins!!!:thumb

I never thought of going through Costco. Which cruise did you go on?? How did the prices compare to the RCCL website?

We've gone through Costco as well. Royal Caribbean is price fixed so its the same price no matter what travel agent you go to. What differs is the personal service and any extra perks you get like onboard credit or travel insurance.

For our experience Costco left little to be desired. We first used them for a Carnival cruise and they delivered as promised but I almost felt like they really didn't care about our business to them. We then attempted to use them again for Royal Caribbean. We spoke to other Travel Agents who promised us $XXX amount of OBC or insurance. When we called Costco they said they could offer us something extra but they wouldn't tell us what it was until we paid the down payment. Well that was the last time we ever called Costco Travel. Just not very friendly people in my opinion.

I have booked directly and used an agent I like and trust. I check the agent price and the cruise line price, sometimes she can match it, sometimes she can't. As a retailer myself, I appreciate the help she has given me over many years and cruises, and give the business if it makes sense. She tells me when a price goes down, e-mails before it goes on the cruise web-site, as I said , great service. This time she matched the cruise line price for a Junior Suite, helped get the handicapped cabin, and let me know when the price dropped $600 for the cabin the day $$$$ was due....she deserved the business. We have never met, but I have refererred her over 100 cruises, almost 40 last year. We chat like old friends, but she never sends gifts, ie wine, but I know it is because the money goes to dropping my price. Besides she also knows I am picky about my wine :)P)
