Why did CCL stop the 150% for single occup cruisers?

I noticed a couple of months ago that Carnival no longer has any 1A cabins available at 150% for single occupancy cruisers. I have done this many times over the 25 years I have been sailing with Carnival and it really ticks me off that they did away with this. So now if I want to cruise (AND I DO) I have to pay double for my cabin......as I often go alone.

I can't see why they can't keep 1/2 dozen cabins per ship available for single cruisers....it was bad enough to pay 150% of the fare.....or even make it as a perk for those of us who
have over 25 cruises!!

any thoughts on this?

Since I always booked an ocean view or better, I have always had to pay 200%. So this is no big deal to me.

The NCL Epic has some cabins priced for singles. You might want to check that out.

I would try the other cruise lines , Rccl had a great deal for singles and if you were 55 or older it was almost same price as a double.

no, I hadn't looked at HAL and Princess....as I have enjoyed
Carnival 30 times in the past......but this seem like a good time
to switch......thanks

Hello Boymom, If you do switch to a different cruise line, be sure to send a letter to Carnival telling them why. It may not do you any good, but if they get enough feedback with similar comments, maybe they will eventually reconsider their decision.

Both Princess and HAL are owned by Carnival.

So are a lot of other cruise lines, but they all operate independently and obviously have different policies relative to singles supplements.

As to the OP's question, Carnival is all about revenue, revenue, revenue. Rather than subsidizing a single person in a cabin, they would rather have two folks paying the regular price and buying all those DOD's, etc. They are apparently willing to risk sending singles off to another cruise line rather than accommodate as in the past. Let's see how that works out for them.

when I use to cruise alone I have found that HAL gives you the best deal, you can also go with there sharing room program. they will find you someone to share a room with,at the regular price.if they can't find you someone the room is your at the regular rate
