Why do you like the Carnival Spirit?

My mom got a GREAT deal on a 12 night Vancouver to Hawaii cruise on the Carnival Spirit ($999 including air & port fees for a balcony cabin!). Since I'm not a big Carnival fan, I really can't tell her too much about this ship. Can you help? What is it that you like about the Spirit and why?

I just sailed on the Spirit in February and I submitted a review of the ship to this board right after we got back. If you go to the Reviews section and search for the Carnival Spirit you should find it. We had a great time. The lay out of the ship was easy to follow and we had a balcony cabin on the Verandah deck, port side and LOVED it! Food was geat! Your Mom will be thrilled! :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks so much for the info., Lainie. (That's my sister's name too!) I printed out your review for her to read and I know she'll appreciate it. I hope she has a good time, but who wouldn't on a pretty new ship, sailing for 12 days and going to Hawaii? :? Wish I could go too but the kids are in school then and they can't get out. :(

Thanks again! :) :thumb

I've cruised on this ship a total of 38 days since the end of March so guess you could say I love it!! :)

She has a great layout. All main eateries are aft and all main lounges/showrooms are forward. And then the middle fills in the blanks with the outside grill, fountain cafe (pay for coffees/treats), lobby bar, etc.

All five waiters I had were extremely different but all highly qualified and nice as could be.

Best Purser's Desk I have ever encountered.

Not sure my reviews will help your mom because they're more like trip reports than reviews of the vessel but please take a look if you like. I have two posted under Carnival Spirit.

Hope your mom enjoys her journey as much as I have mine. I'm also considering the one she booked but it's a long shot for me!

I always enjoy your post, Lady Jag. :) Enjoy the evening!

Wow Sea Turtle! What an an endorsement for the ship! That's a lot of time sailing on the same ship! It seems that this class of ship is a positive departure from the Fantasy class ships. Thanks for the info & reviews, which I also printed out for my mom and her group!

Thanks, Laurie! I've seen the pictures of the cabins in the brochure and they do look nice. They never show the bathrooms though, so I'll pass that info. on also. :)

Lady Jag--

Definite departure from Fantasy class. I did a 5-day on the Imagination amongst the days on the Spirit, and that ship was a total let down for me. I was drawn into the Imagination by the $$ but having sailed the Spirit & Victory I will never look back beyond those two (and those two are so totally different from each other). Others can sail all classes of the Carnival fleet and have a grand time but I am not one of them.

If your mom has any specific questions about the Spirit, please feel free to email me.

Enjoy the evening!

Thank goodness it's a huge departure from the Fantasy Class! They are the only Carnival ships I've been on and it's left a bad taste in my mouth for Carnival. I've heard so many positive things about the Spirit Class ships, though, so I hope it will be a good cruise for my mom. She' s the type that is very easy to please, so I'm sure she'll have a great time on a new, beautiful ship!

Thanks again for the help! :)

Jorene - Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Legend, Spirit and Pride are all in the same class. From the sounds of things, you'll have a great time on the Pride! :)
