Thru some researching I noticed that RCCL seems to have disappeared off the Galveston Cruise calendar. Is this because of the hurricane there last year or some other reasons???
I have always passed up on cruising out of Galveston because it only has two roads to get there and no airport. People have to first fly to Houston and then drive or take a shuttle to Galveston. I have never liked that idea.
But if Houston has a new port with cruise ships I am willing to cruise out of Houston.
I would love to cruise out of Houston.
It is sitting there waiting to be used. The only time it has been used so far is when the Port of Galveston was closed because of the hurricane. Carnival was using it temporarily until Galveston re-opened. It is really a beautiful facility. Here's a link if you want to take a look.
The Voyager of the Seas sails from Galveston part time. As to the Houston cruise ship, it would require an extra hour of sailing to and from for the cruise ships. So it is not likely to get used until Galveston is too full.
Thanx for the correction PH8. I was searching on I-Cruise on the Fall 2010 itineraries did NOT show up for some reason. After going to the RCCL site I see that indeed she is there thru 2011.
Unfortunately it looks like the 1st cruise starts out in late Nov. Was hoping for a possibly Oct. itinerary but right now that's NOT available. Will have to continue to monitor the upcoming schedules. Thanx again for your post.
Good question on the Houston terminal MBandy as that certainly would make it MUCH easier to access the ship. If and when that terminal opens it certainly will be on our watch list for getting on a ship there.
