Wine Package Information

We are trying to find out information regarding the RCCI wine packages seeings they are so primitive in not allowing passengers to bring wine on board (Princess allows one bottle per passenger). There is minimal information on the RCCI site and in fact due to technical problems we are unable to pre-book a package for our cruise. My questions are as follows:
1. Can you choose the type of wine comprising the pacakage, i.e. white or red?
2. Can you have the wine in your stateroom or are the wine packages restricted for the dining room only?
3. If available for stateroom, do they deliver all bottles at once.

Final comment, we have sailed Princess several times and on Feb 12 we will be on the Radiance which is our first lenghty voyage with RCCI other than a few min-trips. After learning of some of the restrictions or inconveniences following booking we will be reverting back to Princess for future cruises. Some of our concerns are
1. Not allowing passengers to carry ä bottle of wine each on board;
2. No self serve laundry on board; and
3. No auto-tipping unless anytime dining

I find in strange that rccl is differnt than princess and celeberity, on not being able to bring a bottle of wine, but I do like No auto-tipping unless anytime dining , I think service is better when they are looking for that tip at the end of the week.

RCI offer 3 Wine Packages Gold, Silver and Platignum. They can be bought in multiples i.e. 7 bottles, 10 bottles etc. The cheapest package is Gold and it offers a choice of 11 wines, 1 sparkling, 5 white and 5 red. On a transatlantic trip in November 2009, 7 bottles on the Gold package cost $181.70, that included the 15% gratuity.
All the wines are from the Wine Cellar that can be accessed on line through your reservation page.
They will also deliver wine to your stateroom on any day you wish. Tip If you wish to order wine for your stateroom, do it on-line before you go, there are no gratuities to pay.

1. I have never had a bottle confiscated when I put it in my checked bags.

2. I hate doing laundry at home, I sure don't want to do it on vacation. The laundry service is reasonably priced.


3. You can always pre pay your gratuities when making your booking or have it added to your on board account. It is only required with anytime dining.

I wonder what their policy is regarding a passenger bringing a bottle of champagne aboard for embarkation consumption when the Champagne in question is one they do not serve or even carry onboard the ships??

As i have looked at Carnivals Champagne selections and i see they do not serve Moet&Chandon Imperial Nectar. So could they decline my bringing my bottle onboard since it is a brand, varietal, vintage they do not offer?? As other than the Dom Perignon they do have, i don't care for the others they offer. It seems as if it would be poor customer service to deny such a request.
