"You are coming to the most beautiful island in the Caribbean and I have sailed to most of them on Winifred. The best sailing in the world is right here in the United States Virgin Islands with our warm and welcoming year-round tradewinds. A once in a life time experience.
Thanks for writing. Will be delighted to take your family sailing on my lovely Winifred. She is a custom designed 43' classic yacht built in 1956, the "Grand Dame" of the day sail fleet here in St. Thomas, and my pride and joy. I have been day sailing my wonderful wooden ship for more than 23 years.. Winifred is beautiful with her bright teak and gleaming hull and we take than SIX guest. No plastic boat here. A truly custom day!
I can understand your wanting a private yacht for a quiet day away from the crowded tours. We had NINE thousand cruise ship passengers in port the other day and we just want you to leave the crowds and sail with us.
We sail from St. Thomas to the St. John National Park and surrounding islands away from the crowds. After sailing an hour or so in the morning we will have quality time for snorkeling, swimming, sunning, beachcombing and serving lunch in a lovely cove then enjoy a gentle sail back in the afternoon.
We will anchor in shallow waters beside pristine beaches where the snorkeling is absolutely awesome and the water is REALLY aqua-blue and crystal clear. We have excellent snorkel gear and I love to make it easy for you. Our special floats are called "Winnie Wings" and great fun even for non-swimmers. Our "look buckets" for viewing the reef are popular too.
My first mate, who has the enthusiam of a teenager, gives you a guided snorkel tour and finds the most amazing sea life. Just the other day we say two turtles, a really big lobster, conch, and of course lots of colorful tropical fish. Please do look at our other photos to see our Winnie Wings and look bucket.
Just bring along towels sunscreen, and a disposable underwater camera. Our wide decks are perfect for sun bathing (bring your book) with island music to soothe the soul. A little know fact is that sunscreens begin to work on HOUR after you put them on so please always apply BEFORE going into the sun.
Our day sail is $120 per person or with our cash discount $110 and includes our continental breakfast, open bar, and a hot tropical lunch which is served in the shade of our cockpit.
St. Thomas is a very small 13 mile long island so it is a short 20 minute scenic taxi ride to our marina from the cruise ship docks and the dockside shopping malls which will offer you an hour or two of convient shopping before boarding your cruiseship in the afternoon.
Do be among the first off the ship and if you arrive early then enjoy a hot cup of coffee or mango smoothie at the deli . Getting off the ship in the morning takes awhile but getting back to the ship from my marina is really quick with taxis right here at our marina. Most of our clients are from the cruise ships and we have great fun!
Winifred is special and we hope you will join us for a fun day of sailing, snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing aboard. If you haven't looked at our testimonials on our website yet please do take a minute to do so. Some will make you laugh out loud!
