megamind, I will have a long layover in orlando when we get back. Our plane does not depart until almost 8:00pm on the 17th. I need to know what to do for that long time period. I was thinking about getting to the airport and checking our bags real early and then going and doing something. What do you suggest? Any help would be appreciated. :grin
Well, I can even help with that Ellen! We always stay in Pt. Canaveral (actually we stay in Cocoa Beach) for two days prior to our cruise on a waterfront hotel. It's a blast! Then we sometimes stay overnight before returning home after the cruise. We are going to visit the Warbird museaum and Kennedy Space Center. We haven't done those in a long time.
We always enjoyed Cocoa Beach, years ago we always stayed at Motel 6 , it was not like any other Motel 6 I ever stayed at, much nicer and was in walking distance to the beach....... going to the Kennedy Space center was a fun thing to do too.
Looks like we have had a few people stay in this area and are aware of things to do. We don't have that much to do in this area. The Big thing is Kennedy Space Center. I usually suggest going to Ron Jons Surf shop. It is very different, and people visiting here should stop by and at least get aT-shirt. We have a nice pier and the beaches aren't too bad. Just keep in mind that the airport is about 45 min. away from the Port. Hope this helps some.
No rental cars AT the port. Several a few min. away. Call one and set up a car. They will take you to the agency. The Kennedy Space Center tour is an all day affair. You will enjoy it. It is very easy to get to, as the roads are well marked with signs. Lots of good resturants in the area also.
