Zuiderdam is the first to have the connections and she is out (as we speak) on her maiden voyage. Reports should be forthcoming in the upcoming weeks.

We just returned from the Maiden Voyage of the Zuiderdam. You will not be disappointed by the internet cafe. There are several computers and were not heavily used during our sailing.
We used it several times during our sailing. You got connected quickly and it always worked while we were on board.
The cost is .75 per minute and there is a one time $3.95 setup fee the first time you log on. You log on by putting in your first initial of your first name, then your complete last name, then your cabin number.
Then you need to put in your password which is your social security number.
I will be posting a complete reveiw of our 12/14 sailing in a few days on www.cruisecritic.com
It was the quickest internet access of any ship we have cruised on so far.

The connections in the room are available but you need to get one as soon as the internet guy is available because they only have limited software on CD. If you have a floppy drive, there's not too much of a problem. It's a slower service than in the internet cafe, but also cheaper.

Thulewx, when you said it is cheaper to use in the stateroom, how much does it cost for the entire 7 day cruise, do they have a package deal? thanks

Their packages are based on minutes - X$ for 100 minutes, Z$ for 200 minutes, *$ for 50 minutes type of thingy.
If you just go in and start using in the internet room, with no package, you pay 75 cents a minute, I think. If you get packages it's cheaper. Starting price without a package in the stateroom is 50 cents a minute, I think, but remember it's a slower connection in the stateroom.
It's been a couple months so numbers are getting fuzzier...

I'm not sure you can buy packages for the in-cabin connections. I think it may just be "by the minute".

I sailed on her in February and brought my laptop. When you get on board go see the Internet manager, he will give you a disk to install "Digital Seas" on your computer. Then you simply log on and do your stuff. It is expensive, $1.00 a minute and it is slow, 56k its only a dial up connection with your internal modem.
In the internet cafe it is high speed, but you cannot mix the two different ways of paying, you must set up a 2nd account.
I never got knocked off once and the connection was close to the best dial up I have ever used.
