If you've been on any of the mid-90s ships - They have 2 categories of veranda cabins- A & B. One the newest ships -that category has just been expanded to A,AA,B, BB -and its ALL location. In the older ships [ prior to 1985, give or take] there seemed to be a lot of very oddly shaped rooms and different configurations. On the newer ships -the only difference seems to be location [ with the exception of stern cabins and cabins at the VERY forward end of the ship] Hope this helps! Anne

Aft cabins are pretty much the same size as the others BUT have huge, wonderful balconies.

Be careful with the aft verandas, however. They are tiered outward like a wedding cake, so if you're at the rail you can be seen by everyone above you.

Thanks for the tip - we wouldn't want to get ummm "caught" on the balcony.

Another question - anyone know whether they have CD players or something like that for music in the rooms?

Other ships have had videotape players in the TVs, and it seems like someone mentioned somewhere that the new Vista class have CD/DVD players. However, the HAL news release of 12/6 talking about the Zuiderdam doesn't mention it.
" In addition to the convenient dataports, all staterooms have a sofa, minibar, double closet with full-length mirror, extra-deep chest of drawers, a safe, hairdryer, telephone with voicemail and computerized wake-up service, multi-channel music system and color television. The rooms also feature individual air-conditioning units to provide personalized climate control for guests. "
Maybe someone who sailed on the 14th will be able to tell us.

In a BB category you look down at the boat tenders.It's just above the promennad deck. A is one deck up with a little better view thats it. We are going on 1/25/03.In a SS suite. Looking forward to it . This is our 5th trip . Two on HAL. Have a great cruise
