Half Vacation, Half Workout: 5 Ways To Get Fit On Your Costa Rica Vacation

Have you ever got back from a vacation, stepped on the scales and thought: huh? How the hell did that happen?

Losing weight seems to come hand-in-hand with vacations. By necessity, you are more active on vacation and far more likely to get out of your room and experience as much of the world as possible. Sure, you might eat more and try out some new cuisines, but most of this is burned off by the sheer amount of activities you get up to during the day.

So think of the results you could see if you actively seek out exercises aside from doing squats, push-ups, planks, or other bodyweight exercises in your room during your travels.

Get Fit On Your Costa Rica Vacation

If you’re travelling to Costa Rica, you are about to experience the second most peaceful country in Latin America. But Costa Rica is not just a place for relaxation. If you put your mind to it, there are a number of things you can do to get fit during your vacation whilst also having the time of your life:

Take To The Water At Lake Arenal

The sport of wakeboarding is great because you’re essentially standing still whilst burning a load of carbs! Well, you might be standing in one spot, but you are racing across the water and keeping your balance at the same time, so it’s not as easy as it sounds. Lake Arenal is also the best place for boat rentals in Costa Rica, so you can not only try out wakeboarding but also water skiing, tubing, or even paddleboarding.

Climb The Heights Of Rincon De La Vieja

There are a number of volcanoes to climb in Costa Rica, but one of the best has to be Rincón De La Vieja. Here, there is a loop hike that will take you through the luscious rainforest and gorgeous waterfalls. There are also a few springs and mud baths along the way, so you won’t be short of ways to cool down and get refreshed.

Get The Blood Pumping At Parque Diversiones

One of the best, yet often overlooked, ways to burn calories is through adrenaline alone. This is a good thing if you’re visiting Costa Rica, as the superb Parque Diversiones theme park has a number of rides to get your blood pumping. Unbeknownst to many, there are many health benefits to visiting theme parks, and it helps that they’re a lot of fun too!

Go For Hikes At La Fortuna

Simply hiking around La Fortuna can be a good way to lose weight. The terrain is perfect for hikes, and, like the volcano of Rincón De La Vieja, there are a number of beautiful spots to revel in whilst you get your breath back.

Go For A Run At Jaco

If you want something a little more challenging than a hike, however, there is nothing better than going for a run at Jaco beach during the late sunset hours. With the sea air in your face and the warm sand beneath your feet, you will never have a running session as good as this. It’s certainly a lot better than the running machine at your local gym, that’s for sure!
