Crime and kidnapping concerns have seen ships bypass Manzanillo

Royal Caribbean has reportedly canceled stops at a Mexican port for its cruise ships after the US State Department issued a travel advisory against visiting the city.

Recent updates to travel guidance for popular cruise destinations in Mexico now include a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” warning for Manzanillo, located on Colima’s Pacific Coast, due to concerns over crime and kidnapping. According to the State Department’s advice for Colima, “Violent crime and gang activity are widespread.
