Wow, now that I had my post katrina syndrone in the previous post, please let me tell Snorkelman that yes, we can have bad experiences on a cruise. I feel for you.

Like the incident in the previous post, there were some very good other experiences too. We stayed in Cozumel for about 9 to 11 hours. Really had fun.and a romantic evening with my wife.

Hi
My last Carnival Cruise I had a couple of issues. Sent Carnival an email and got a shipboard credit. So I am happy and hopefully we do not have the same issue in Sept when we go. I guess how they handle it will depend on your issue
Good Luck

I think Snorkelman is out to get something for nothing! It seems to me that he wants someone elses bad experience to pay off for himself? I may be wrong but that's what it seems like to me?

I must agree with the previous post. Trying to get something for nothing.
If you read the original post snorkelman says he wasn't happy with the way the offense was handled, not the offense or event that actually happened. Which seems odd to me. It is not the event, that happended it was the way it was handled that entitles him to a free cruise. So I must agree he seems to be fishing for something. Also the fact that Original poster gives no details to what actually transpired. In the end we will all pay for it I am quite sure.
I speculate that at breakfast one morning he had a burt cherrio in his bowl, and when he complained they just removed the burt one and didn't replace the whole bowl. Again just speculation on my part

This happened about four cruises ago. My wife and I were on our balcony. It was early in the morning. We were in port in Cozumel. We heard the cabin steward cleaning our room so we decided to stay outside for a little bit longer. When we did not hear her anymore we decided to go in and get ready for our excursion. We had chartered a plane to Chichen Itza for 1030. This was not done through Carnival. We had paid for it four months earlier. When we tried to get back into our cabin we discovered we were locked out. We had no way of getting back in. We screamed - pounded on the walls but nothing. All of the cabins near us had left already. We were stuck on the balcony for about 4 hours. Finally the couple next door to us came back from the pool. They heard us and called the pursers office to let us out.
We were not offered any compensation for the missed charter flight we had already paid for. We were not offered any discount for a future trip. I asked the pursers officer to be compensated for our lost and we were told that maybe we locked out selfs out. This is a dead bolt. How could we have turned the dead bolt from the outside. This just didn't make sense. But it was obvious we were not going to get anything for this. So what did we do. Got over it and had a great remaining vacation. We never went back out on the Balcony with out propping open the door. Needless to say I pulled the automatic tip for the room steward.

When we got home we contacted the charter plane company . They were very nice and simply gave us vouchers for a future flight which we used the next year.
So we lost a few hours out of our day. We panicked a little. We have a great story to tell but overall nothing bad happened.

Some people make a living from complaining. They know that if the complain to a large company that they might get something for free. I personally find it's alot easier to go out and earn the money, but then again I'm not Snorkelman.

I normally don't respond to baiting, but some of the above comments are asinine. I really don't give a hoot what you think. I was seeking comments about what I can expect so that I can plan for this when I write my letter. I specifically stated "There is plenty of documentation from the ship security concerning what happened to me to prove what happened." That should be sufficient for you to answer my question. If you have nothing useful to add (as was the case for many of your comments) , don't bother responding. Some of you give smart-a$$ comments and often have little helpful information for anyone. Soem of you go on a couple of cruises and think you are experts. Chill out. I am not a newbie clueless and complaining about poor dining service.

Wow snorkelman you got your undies wound tight today. Most post were reacting to the fact that you failed to provide any. When you get done trying to do what it is you are trying to do you can post what you did and how you did it so we can all do what it is you are doing.

Snorkleman.....as you can see, you don't have a lot of credibility here. We would be most willing to help you if you told us what happened. So, why the big secret? I don't understand that. Telling us there is documentation and security was involved is really totally insufficient. NO one is going to comment on what you should do based on NO INFORMATION. To do that would be irresponsible. Why would anyone want to do that? Your lack of sharing makes people wonder if your whole situation is bogus. I am sorry if that thought upsets you (clearly it does), but you created that problem. On a lighter note, you also have the power to change that. You could easily start a new thread here and fully explain the incident and ask for feedback again. With a clear picture of what happened, I am sure that people would be more than happy to offer you the assistance you are seeking. It's all up to you.............

Please feel free to delete this thread. I do not believe that I will receive any useful information with the current thread. I will no longer check the responses, so no point responding unless it just makes you feel good.

Snorkleman, If I understood your post correctly you were asking if anyone had ever had a problem severe enough that they were awarded a free cruise from a particular cruiseline, and if so, what
was the situation that they had encountered. You were basically wanting someway and something to measure your particular situation against.

I have never personally had a problem other than minor annoyances on a cruise and have never heard of anyone getting a free cruise for anything. I think since you weren't very forthcoming about what had happened in your posts that most people took it as someone fishing around to try to get something
for nothing.

Hopefully , if you would share your experience there might be someone who could offer some help. However, if you want to keep the matter private, I'm sure folks would understand.

Snorkelman........... Carnival is not going to give a hoot what you think. Trust me, you get very little sympathy on this site, but if it happens to them........... watch out

We had a bad experience once, too. But like some of the other posters above..when I contacted Carnival it wasn't to "get something". It was out of concern for their reputation. I sent my email by way of my CPVP and received a phone call from the main office. I restated my concerns and inspite of my not wanting anything the representative of the company I was speaking with insisted on a small shipboard credit and a few other odds and ends during our next cruise.

You said you experienced a serious violation. Obviously you feel you deserve some recompence.
Perhaps you should let Carnival make an offer instead of your making a demand. I can't imagine you getting a free cruise but stranger things have happened.

If you have a problem you need to complain. The funny thing about this thread is that it doesn't ask the question "Anyone get any resolution from complaining?" It specifically asks how to go about getting a free cruise. He might as well ask the question "Which complaints will get me the most free stuff". If he has a legitimate complaint then either tell the cruise line of give us more info so we can help.
