Welcome over here, it is fun to see old faces, well I don't mean we can see your face or you are old, just nice to see others finding boards other than the "big one" Yes, you point out something that always gets overlooked. Even though you may have to make a reservation, you pretty much decide what time fits you. We used to hate the set times: 6;15 was always a little to early and after 8 too late most nights. We enjoy eating between 6:30 and 7:30. If there is a 1/2 price special we are more than flexible, 5pm or 9pm, for the 1/2 price bargain we set no time requirements.

Have participated in Anytime dining on Princess and just returned yesterday on NCL Dawn Freestyle. Reservations can be made up to 48 hours ahead of time for main dining rooms for parties of 3 or more (Venetian and Aqua with identical menus) or any number in speciality restaurants. We opted for Cagney's (steak and fish) and Impressions (Italian) on 2 of 7 nights on board. While they were good we didn't feel extra cost justified the experience. Princess offers Anytime dining in alternate dining room which has identical menu as traditional dining room just with flexibility in dining time. Princess will permit reservation at same time and table (if available) in the alternate dining room if you decide that avenue after boarding. Freestyle or Anytime offers flexibility especially needed on port days. Atmosphere on NCL is not as classy as other lines but definitely not disappointing. We found NCL Dawn service to be attentive whether in regular or speciality dining areas. We feel the key is to relax and enjoy.
