carnival balcony -- grilling

Cruizer , why don't you get the thorn out of your ass about the grilling thing??
Most everyone here thought it was a joke , which it probably was, and if it wasn't , then the poster learned right away that he shouldn't go to the trouble of taking a grille, weenies, gas, charcoal etc. and then be disappointed. So either way, he got his question answered. Yes we all know that there are some lines that will do everything for you, shine your shoes, bring you special foods, prepare special foods for you, etc. etc. etc. if you are willing to fork over the dollars. But we know to that you ain't going to get it in a forward facing cabin on an NCL ship.
Yes , we all know too that NCL has a couple ships with opulent suites called " Garden Suites " that are supposed to be the berries --- ( were still talking NCL here , regardless of the price of the Garden Suites ) wherein you have perks by the thousands, etc. Yes we all know too that we can go to the NCL website and pull up photos of the suites.
The poster was talking Carnival--- not a Garden Suite nor the Queens Grille on the Q.M. 2.
Clean up your grille this week end, cook some burgers and relax.

You can make all the excuses you want.

1) The replies to someone who clearly said it was the first Carnival cruise and only has one post on this board were rude and insensitive - period. A simple no, it is a fire hazard would also have answered the question without coming off like a bunch of classless cruise know-it-all snobs.

2) The photos are mine. You can go to the album on this website and find them. The photos I posted are not available from any of NCL's websites.

Personally I think you owe the OP an apology, but I doubt that you have enough personal fortitude to do it.

Okay-- to original poster who asked about grilling on his Carnival balcony:
I am so sorry that I possibly offended you by stating the truth that you couldn't do it--number 1 that you couldn't get through security with your grilling supplies, etc. That it was a fire hazard and shouldn't be tried and that as others said, on a balcony you probably wouldn't have the room to set up shop to grille. By learning the above mentioned, you were saved the embarrassment of attempting to grille. So now you know. As posts of this sort pop up form time to time , not only on this but other sites as well, it's usually someone joking about taking a habachi grille, etc. Sometimes there are posts about fishing form a balcony. Usually that can't be done either, as someone other than a fish might end up with a hook in their eye or mouth.

So there , Cruizer is the apology--not for you but to the original poster. Now that I have apologized, how about my apology from you that you doubted I had the fortitude to do so ?? I'm waiting. Apparently you made a misjudgement also and so I too deserve an apology from you, if you have the fortitude.---Waiting.

As to the advice you so expertly tried to point out about grilling, BBQ'S etc, you would have some first time cruiser believing that basically all they had to do was ask and it would be done. I think the other posters on this subject gave the original poster much more insight than did you with all your hype about grilling, huge balconies, etc,.
It's wonderful that you can show us the huge and elaborate accommodations you stayed in aboard NCL.
Hopefully they were wonderful. The forward facing cabin with the wind and spray constantly hitting the front of the ship must have been a let down though. But, that's why they have the huge heavy weather proof doors on the front-- to keep the water and spray out.

Now, as I said before, I made my apology to the original poster--I'm waiting for mine from you--if you have the decency to do so. And, by the way, if the thorn in your ass is too big to get out with tweezers, try a pair of pliers.

Get out the grille, lay on the weenies and have a good week-end. :wave :wave

You surprised me. I really didn't think you had the personal fortitude to apologize to the OP. As for me, I stand corrected - you do have more character than I gave you credit for. However, for the record, I never asked for an apology from you to me.

To that end, I do apologize for doubting your personal character. Now, how about the other who gave the OP such a warm welcome that the OP has never posted again on this board.

Side note to all others on the site--- Please don't think that Cruizer and I are really mean-- this isn't a fight so don't be alarmed or worried. We are just debating back and forth.
To Cruizer--- May the hand of peace and happiness descend slowly upon you and make you calm and serene.
But--- do try to do something about the thorn !! Peace be upon you.
Considering they don't allow curling irons or clothes irons in the rooms because of fire hazard, ummmm I'd think the answer to that would be a no.

Fire is the biggest threat aboard a ship and they are very careful to avoid situations that could be a fire hazard.

Sounds like fun though :)

ps. you could always call carnival and ask them though - just to get it from the horse's mouth!
You can bring curling irons just not clothes irons. I've brought mine on all of my cruises and have never had a problem with having my curling iron onboard. If I couldn't bring that I don't think you would want to see my hair :)

I agree with "icemaiden" it is rather doubtful it would be allowed. They even caution against smoking on the balcony as a lit ash from a smoke could cause a situation. Besides who the heck wants to grill when food is available nearly 24 hrs a day. Don't waste time cooking, DRINK for heavens sake! Balconies are great, enjoy!
