We have the cat. 5A (3 cabins). Originally started at the 1A cat. inside knowing we would be upgraded to a higher cat. like a 4c or d....But instead we got the 5A part.obstructed french door outside cabin. Great deal for us, paid less than the 1A rates as posted on site and now have a 5A.
We picked our own cabins (was on ship 2001) and knew which cabins had some view and not just the lifeboat view.
Good to hear from you, and hope we can hear from others travelling with us.

We do not have room numbers yet. They said we might get an upgrade. If we do, that will be cool. But i wiil be happy with an 8a too.

Christopher,
If they did not assign a room to you yet ,there is a good chance you will be upgraded.
We wanted to have assigned cabins because we needed 3 rooms on same deck. There are 6 of us going=my daughter-son-in-law-his parents-my grandson age 5 and myself.
See you on board in 128 days (but who's countingLOL)

All this talk about upgrades is making me curious. My wife and I are leaving on the Oct 5th cruise on the Inspiration and this is our first cruise ever. We are in cat 6A and they tell us it is suppose to be a room with a port hole. I paid an extra $100.00 to go from a 5A which was supposed to be a cabin with no windows at all. How do I find out about this upgrade. My group is consisting of almost 50 people.

My cousins and myself are in cabin 6203 on the Empress deck. I've researched every possible are on the ports we will be visiting and still can't get enough info to satisfy me. Think I'm addicted. LOL.

Redeye,
First of all an upgrade is usually given to past cruisers of Carnival. If this is your first cruise and Iyou book a guarantee cabin then they will give you the best cabin for the cat. you selected.
Such as if you have an inside 1A you can be upgraded to an 4A-4D.....That is if they do not sell out those cabins first. Otherwise you will have the original cabin cat. you selected.
The porthole cabins are usually towards the front of the ship. The Spirit which is one of the newer ships have French Doors in their cat. 5A.. These cabins are usually obstructed by a lifeboat, or if you are lucky like we are, you can get a cabin that is not completely obstructed. These French Doors open so you can get some fresh air.
I have had this type of cabin when I was on the Legend last Dec.
When I booked my cruise this time my personal planner started me at a 1A. rate (plus I got the Fla.resident rate) and upgraded me from the inside to an outside without any additional charge.
The best thing for you to do is call your travel agent and find out how he can get you the upgrade...
Marilyn

P.S. check the rates to see if they drop in price. If they do, call you Travel agent and tell them to adjust your rates...I had rates dropped even as late as a month before I cruised. My trip was already paid for so they gave me on board credit.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I will check with my TA. Also, I found on another thread someone put a post to check out this website for pictures of the Inspiration. After clicking on the link, click on Gallery of Experience and click on Cruise ships. They have allot of pictures from all over the ship.

Maybe we can get some more of our cruisemates to list which deck they are on if we keep moving this site to the top.
No one will find it if it falls to the bottom..
Has anyone else ever been on the Spirit or Legend before?.

See what happens when you boost the topic to the top...We are to be found.LOL...........
We are in the obstructed cabins(we picked the ones that have some view of the ocean) and are on the main deck.
What I liked about the main deck is when we were on the sister ship Legend last Dec/ and when I wanted to see the show I did not have to go down to the promenade deck in order to see the show.
What I was able to do from the main deck was go thru a door and that led me to the upper balcony seating where I was able to see the entire show.No pushing or shoving to get seats. There were plenty of them up there.
Let's hear from everyone who is sailing with us...

Maybelle, my first Spirit cruise was to Belize, Costa Rica & Panama so I haven't been the southern route. I did call Carnival & they faxed me a list of shore excursions available for this cruise. Have no idea about shopping. Maybe someone else knows.

Whoops Tia, I messed up. I should have addressed that question to Cruzmama. How about it Cruzmama, any scoop for those of us visiting for the first time? Touring, shopping, snorkling, etc.

Maybelle,
Well, I am not a water person, or go in the water to swim.
Friends of mine that were on the Dec.2001 Spirit cruise with me did do the kayacting and snorkling and said they loved it.
The only tours I ever did was the sightseeing tours of the island, and they were very nice. The only bad thing about them was there was no airconditioning on the bus, so it did get quite hot. If you do this type of tour bring along a hand fan with you.
St.Maarten, I shopped and shopped and then went into the casino in town. Had fun doing that.
St. Martinique was just another port to me and looked like St.Maarten or St.Thomas.
Try the kayacting and snorkling if you like it does sound like fun.....
Only 123 days to go....4 more months yea!!!!!!
