Mike Bandy and I were chatting about snow, and the dealing..now bearing in mind gas costs HAVE gone *up*.. what's the cost for plowing in your area.. ??to those that apply??..

Mark has a snowblower, and as he says is wayyyy to *&^% cheap to pay for ours to be plowed..when we are gone on vacation it's a task "given" to our house sitters son.. and he lives 1/8th of a mile away.. and it's 30.00 a throw..:(....and we just chalk it up as a vacation expense... bearing in mind our driveaway holds 8 cars..in a pinch ...parking 6 easy..what's it cost any other @ddicts..just wondering????.. as the plow guys zip by.. grinning a bunch.. we have a foot of snow due today.. and already have 2 feet!!..=eek..it's a hard thankless task, and they do it 24/7.. as it is needed..and for Seniors or those with mobility issues it is a Godsend!!..but I know why Mark just blows our snow out..it's worth the savings to do it himself..=shrug.. Happy New Years!!..Joanne

The costs here need to be tripled! While working in govt back east there was one budget line item that could without question be exceeded without prior govt. approval. That was snow removal. And most years it was exceeded. They do what they have to back there.

Here, if you live on a side street you are lucky to be plowed out at all. And the main roads are a mess! I can't even imagine that there is any tax savings because with all of the accidents what we may save in a few bucks of tax savings we are putting into the cars that are wrecked all winter.

We don't have much area to take care of personally. We shovel.

We usually just stay inside and wait for it to melt. Son came last year and shoveled path for car for his dad. One neighbor has a plow for his truck and some years he has done our driveway for free. association has the road plowed usually. We are abt 1/2 block from main roads which are done by county.

I wouldn't know about the coast of having snow removal. I "wing it" with the snow blower. Which I haven't used in 2 years.

In our old neighborhood we used to have a neighbor who had a tractor and he loved to plow our driveways. Wouldn't take a dime either but we usually got him a Christmas gift. God rest his soul, he was a nice man.

We have never had to pay anyone here to plow our drive. DH and I do it ourselves. We used to go over and shovel our parents out when they were alive. At the office DH usually goes up there and shovels the sidewalk for me or my partner stops by and does it. If I am there and it is snowing I generally go out and keep up with the snow.

Guess we are do it yourselfer snow removal people! LOL

Sounds as though you're getting bunches of snow out there CC.

We have quite a long driveway and would have to take days off from work to use a snowblower to get it done! We have a plow and my significant other also has a plow route. With the cost of fuel climbing so high most of his driveways are at a minimum of $20.00. He does several lots as well and when I look at his fuel bills, repair bills, and such, I wonder how much he is actually making per hour! I know most people think that 15-20 minute plow job for 25.00 looks pretty cush but in reality it isn't all it seems. It's nice you and Mark can save a bit by doing it yourselves.

Last year we paid $10 each time. Dan and I both have bad backs and no snow blower so we pay. This year it is plowed everytime and I don't know who is doing it but I have not received a bill either. The snow plow fairy?? I am truly thankful if someone is doing it because of our situation. I just hope they don't intend to send us one big bill....

We don't bet much snow here usually a few good dusting a year which most melt the next day. Last year when we got about 4 inches but it stayed VERY cold my niece and her DH were living with us so Randy shoveled and it was a lot of work. We do have a small electric snow blower that Leatherneck will use when we get larger amounts of snow fall....but we've had some pretty mild winters of late.

With our yo yo weather, the snow is rarely on the ground for too long. If I need to get out, and it is deep, the neighbor kids willl plo2 i5 fir rot n9(THANDK YOU SIMON//////////////// he keeps hitting the keys and trying to catch my fingers while I type). the kids will plow the drive for $10.

Sage,
I think this is some kind of weather phenomenon they have up North and out West. Sorta like our fog when everything is wet. They claim that the temps get below 40 up there.....like they think we believe that. When them temps get that low the fog stuff breaks into little pieces and falls on the ground...

I think that is what this is all about.

Actually, bOB had a good point...."This doesn't concern me"

DH uses the snowblower when we need it. If it is light, he'll just shovel it. He used to put the snowblower in his truck and go do my mom's, but one year he hurt his back lifting/removing it so now we have someone plow it for her.

We both have an L-shaped driveway so we can get some pretty good drifts. This year I asked someone we know to take care of it for her and he only charged her $10.

Cute photo Suer, :lol

DH uses the snow blower and does our driveway and our neighbors. Thank goodness for the invention of the snow blower.
