Unfortunately, I read that one cannot have an opinion on this board. Meanwhile, hopefully I can say the following without having a two year old's response tear apart my OPINION. I'd like to mention the following: I was in the Paris Dining Room at the 8pm seating at table 363. Our waitress Ana was tremendous. Lobster can be browned to an undesirable point (burned) when it sits under a salamander for prolonged periods of time - picture an indian rubber ball made from lobster. On the Monday night we ordered scallops. It was swimming in a white sauce. I also ordered the Chateaubriand which only came well done - even though I requested medium - and it resembled something I imagine I would feed to a cat. The salads at dinner were disappointing and I would recommend not swaying from your typical garden salad. Unless, of course, you are at the open seating lunch in the dining room. In this case, avoid the salad - or heck, try it out just for the fun!! You'll get a head of lettuce - not shredded, not cut, not torn - I mean a HEAD of lettuce, a head cabbage and some carrot with a slice of tomato. As for dessert - do not expect anything gourmet. Having cruised numerous times, I can tell you do not expect anything that Michel Roux would make on Celebrity or anything you would find on RCCL. It was just that boring. However, there is a nice cafe as you leave the dining room where you can buy a gourmet piece of cake, pie or some cookies - just be forewarned that for one of these sinful delights - you will have to pay MONEY!! Nice huh? I can tell you I did not hear anyone mutter anything so truthful as the lady who exclaimed one night during dinner, "Are all of these desserts dietetic?!?!?!?"

I have never had a problem with the food on Carnival. I love the Ceaser salad and they are willing to bring it to me every nite. Also some nites I order a veg platter and they always bring me a nice assortment steamed to perfection with a baked potato. I live in Las Vegas and am use to really great dinning, but considering how many people the ships have to serve daily they do an awsome job.

I think it is safe to say that we all have our own individual tastes :)

Now, our family of 4 actually prefered our food on Carnival Inspriation in 2002 than our food on RCCL Grandeur of the Seas in 2003. Our Maitre D was far superior on RCCL but our head waitor on Inspiration would bring my daughter 2 fruit bowls with every meal because right after our first night, he knew she would be eating fruit like crazy. We had lobster on Grandeur, but only because we promised my Mom. We are NOT lobster eaters, and the stuff we had on RCCL was like rubber, but maybe it is always suppose to be ultra chewy? Hubby ate his, and I had my pic taken with mine and that was about it!

I found the food on Carnival to be quite good. Also, once you know your dining assignment and are onboard, you could find your dining room and the menu for the evening should be posted by the dining room front doorway.
