Freeport & Nassau

We are cruising in December, ports of call are Freeport, Nassau and Key West. We are renting an electric car in Key West, do not have anything planned for Freeport but would like to do Atlantis in Nassau. We are not interested in water activities. It does not look like Carnival has any good excursions for Nassau, so my question is, can you get to Atlantis easily from the ship or do they have other tour companies at the port that we could check into. We want to see Atlantis and we also want to go to the casinos. Any suggestions?

There is an abundance of taxis right outside of the cruise ship area in Nassau. They ALL want to take you to Paradise Island (where Atlantis is located). No problem at all getting to Atlantis.

DH and I are also cruising to these port of calls. Our first stop is in Nassau where we are doing the "Beginner's Dive." Which is not scheduled until the afternoon. Looking for some ideas for the morning. Second stop is Freeport.....DH is golfing. I guess this course is the in the top three of the golf courses in the Caribbean. So, I will be solo this day. I don't want to stay on the ship all day. What is there to do by myself?? Wow, didn't even think about it until this second, is it safe for me to be out and about alone?? I'm sure it is fine, just use some common sense right?? :einstein:
Then the last stop is Key West and there we are going on a self guided pub crawl and getting a piece of key lime pie!!! My favorite!!
This is my first trip to the Bahamas, DH has been several time, but is not big help when looking for something to do. He seems to have the attitude, "been there, done that." So, I am turning to you fine people to help me out. :thankyou:

Only been to Freeport once - if you just get off the ship and stay in the Port area - you will be fine by yourself - nothing there but a few gift shops. You actually have to take a bus or cab into town - which we did not.

If you really want to do something in the port - I would do a cruise ship tour and not wonder off in a strange place by myself.

Personally, I would do the port area and then hit the spa on the ship!
