We are back from Hawaii and starting to plan for the 10/7/05 cruise.

Thank you Cruisetime for the heads up on the Yatra Travel site for airfares. We were geting prices for round trip from the west coast to Rome at about $800-$900. Since we are doing a back to back cruise ending up in Galvaston Texas we only need a one-way fare. The cost for a one-way to Rome was in the $1300 range( why is a one-way ticket so much more then a round trip? ) We went to the Yatra site and got one way tickets for just over $600. Thanks again Cruisetime. We will arrive in Rome on Oct. 4th, as we wanted a couple of extra days in Rome.

We are still looking for the best way to get from Rome to the ship. We called Celebrity and they will not guarantee a transfer unless your plane arrives the day of the sailing. They said that there shouldn't be any problem showing up at baggage claim on sail day and getting the Celebrity transfer then. The price is $80ea. The idea of renting a 6-8 person van sounds good and I hope all the 10/7's will keep me posted on how that is going.

There is a travel group In Sacramento Ca. called Experience Italy. www.experienceitaly.com They are having a seminar on independat travel to Italy on tue. march 15th and I plan to attend. I will ask their recommendations on hotels in Rome and what is available for siteseeing. I will also ask for recommendations for the Naples and Genoa areas.

my e-mail is wmeuser@thegrid.net

Bill & Helen:

Glad you were able to use the site and get some good ticket prices to Rome. i Am in San Francisco right now visiting my daughter and new grandson. Too bad Sacramento isn't aroiund the corner, I would attend with you on Tuesday, sounds iteresting! I will be in California until next Sunday and then head back to Buffalo and the snow and cold!

I would like to know their suggestions regarding Rome. Think you can get the transfers cheaper if a few of you get a limo from Rome to the ship.

Welcome back! We just booked a Bed & Breakfast near the Vatican/Sistine Chapel (8 minute walk) and St. Peters Square (10 minute walk) for October 17th that comes well recommended for 70 Euros per night. The gentleman who owns it told me he could set up transportation to the airport for us for 30 Euro, which isn't bad considering our flight is early in the morning. The link to his website is http://www.zolit.com/eng/ubicazione.htm

We are hoping to tour the Coliseum, Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain the day of our cruise. He might have more availability so more of us could stay there if anyone is interested.

Please let us know if anyone else has made hotel arrangements for October 17th.

Laurie and Matt:

Have you seen any photos of this B & B:?

We will be there the month before you, the rates might be higher for us.

Thanks!

Marion,

I think prices should be about the same in Sept. It's the high season no matter what.

Congratulations on your new grandson! Enjoy. I have 2 grandsons - an almost 7 yr. old and a 4 yr. old. We love them to death. They are so much fun.

Still doing my research.

Hi everyone. The photos of the B&B we are considering are at http://www.zolit.com/eng/benvenuti.htm

Thanks to Mary, we are now talking to a number of people on the 10/7 Galaxy cruise. Please switch to http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=38526 for great information! It is free to join and through Cruisecritic, there is a special party for the Cruisecritic members. Be prepared to read, because they are on their 21st message board page.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Laurie

Hi everyone,

Thanks, Laurie. I was going to post something today but you beat me to it. Hope Helen and Ed join us because they are going on the same cruise.

Mary

P.S. That will take you to the main board and you have to go to Celebrity Roll Call, then look for the thread that will have the Galaxy 10/7 information. As Laurie said, we are up to page 21! Lots of reading and good stuff.

Marion, I have found a reasonably priced hotel that you may be interested in if you haven't found something. It's Hotel Italia, someone has stayed there. I have emailed the hotel & they quoted a rate of E120.00 with an 8% discount if you pay cash, which brings the rate down to E110.40. Looks nice. I checked it out with tripadvisors.com also. It is recommended by several travelers.

Have a nice day.
