Sailing on Princess for the first time and to Hawaii for the first time! Anxious to say The least. Would like to find fellow cruisers and recommendations on hotel choices and transfers from LAX to San Pedro

From LAX to just about anywhere in San Pedro two choices. Shuttle, there are several, we prefer Super Shuttle, the blue van, and for just about any of them it will be around $35 plus tip for two of you. Other option is a taxi which if I remember but it was a while ago, around $50+ plus tip but this may have gone up since it has been a while since we have taken a cab.
There are several choices in the area as far as hotels, we always stay at the Vagabond, it is right on Gaffey so it can be a little noisy but it is simple, clean and around $100 sometimes less if you book online and you can actually see the top of the ship from the second and third floor. They have a free shuttle to the port which is only a 5 minute drive, it takes longer to load and unload the shuttle then the trip and the driver uses a back gate so you miss all the crowds at the front gate. Several fast foods close by plus a sushi restaurant right on the corner plus just a short cab ride to ports of call for some higher end eats...

That sounds like an exciting trip! A 14-day Hawaii cruise from Los Angeles on the Golden Princess must be amazing. For hotel recommendations, consider staying at hotels near the port in San Pedro, like the DoubleTree by Hilton or the Crowne Plaza. For transfers, you can opt for shuttle services that go directly from LAX to the port or check with Princess for their transfer options. Have a fantastic time exploring Hawaii and enjoy your cruise experience!

How exciting that you are sailing with Princess and visiting Hawaii for the first time. It is perfectly normal to feel a bit anxious, but I am sure you will have an amazing time. For hotel recommendations near LAX and San Pedro, you might want to look into places like the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Airport or the Hilton Los Angeles Airport for convenience and proximity. Both offer comfortable stays with shuttle services to and from the airport.

As for transfers from LAX to San Pedro, many cruisers opt for the Cruise Line Transfers offered by Princess Cruises for a seamless experience. Alternatively, you can consider taking a shuttle or ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft, which are convenient and relatively affordable. Some travelers also recommend the SuperShuttle service, which provides shared rides between LAX and San Pedro.

Feel free to reach out to other cruisers in the forum for additional recommendations or tips. You will likely find plenty of advice from those who have sailed on Princess and have experience with the logistics of travel in the area.

Happy cruising, and enjoy your Hawaiian adventure.

This cruise came and went in 2013. And the Golden Princess is no longer in the Princess fleet.
