So sorry you're having to deal with this, even though we know we're making the right decision in letting them go. It's hard to give up our furry friends, regardless.

I want to thank all of you for your kind words - it does help a bit. The house seems so empty without him, but we are remembering all the good times.

So sorry for your loss. I know that Gusto is running free now and you gave him the greatest gift with your love.

As much as it hurts, it was the right thing to do. And believe me, you don't want to live with the guilt of letting your pet suffer; thru all the yrs I've always known when it was the "right" time but this last time I kept putting it off & my sweet little Jack died in my arms in the middle of the night gasping for air. You did the right thing--I didn't.

KathyC - that was my worst nightmare......that I would not recognize that it was time. When the vet gave me time with Gusto, I knew by looking in his eyes that it was the right time. He knew and I knew, but it was so very hard. 8 days ago and I am ready to give most of his stuff to my sister's dog Diesel. At least it will all remain in the family. There are a couple of things that I will hang on to forever.
