I'm going on this ship also, I cant wait! Just got off a 3 day sailing on Carnival and all I could think of while I was on there is how beautiful AOS ship is going to be compared to that one!!
I have another question... what time do they let you board the ship? I noticed that it comes in at 7am and doesn't leave until 8:30pm. is there a reason why it departs so late? I'm doing my flight through RCCL so I won't know for a while. Just trying to see what time we might be getting in. you can tell I'm very bored.
We were on AOS in May & were the 1st onboard at 11:40... we got to the port at 10:30 and waited in line outside until they opened the doors for security..check in was a breeze & we were onboard in a flash..
I think one reason the ships leave later from SJ is all the flights from the west coast & such.. we flew in the day before & it was great!
Thanks. Yeah I just read a review from that cruise too and the guy said he was on by like 2 or so. Don't know what time I'll be getting there yet but seems like I'll have a lot of time to eat and look around. Thanks again!
I had a question also, since the ship does not leave until the evening are the pools open that day to go in? I cant wait to see this ship, I hate to rush winter here wish it were sooner!!
Yes, the pools will be open when you board. Your room will not be open till 1:00 though so either wear your suit under your clothes or be prepared to change in one of the restrooms.. have a super trip AOS is a great ship!
Planning first family Christmas cruise on the AOS 20Dec-27Dec 2009. First time on RCCL.
Flying from Chicago, Illinois. Any recommendations on the best airline to travel direct. The group plans to book airfare on their own. RCCL airfare was too pricey. Can someone tell me what is the difference between the Oceanview and Larger Oceanview Cabins besides price? Are Balcony Cabins worth the value? Which rooms are recommended for triple occupancy? What perks or incentives are offered for group travel? Do you recommend Insurance? It seems to be a catch 22 and expensive. There will be some travelers over 70+ sailing, does RCCL have ample activities for them? I have heard mixed reviews about the food. Someone please give me the truth. Seven days with mediocre food makes for a lousy sail. I know there will be some travelers that are critics.
What is the average cost of transportation from airport to Port San Juan? Is there a movie theater on AOS? Is there a bowling alley on AOS? Any and all information will be most appreciated.
Getting ready, countdown 27 days to Grandeur, 20th cruise !! I am not a big ship person, I enjoyed the AOS in March 2007. Went with friends, met some new friends, love sailing out of San Juan, usually spend a day or two before there, but I prefer the Vision class ships sailed them 6 times, and this will be my 7th....to those who enjoy the bigger ships, I say ENJOY ! But my preference remains smaller ships....
IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!! Of course there is a big snow storm blowing through. hope that doesn't hurt us taking off tomorrow. I can't wait. Get me to San Juan!!!! Have a good week everybody.
