It is the 18th review (Greg) on the list of Carnival Legend reviews on this board. Only correction is that price at the Golden Fleece should have read $25 rather than $50. The Panama Canal is a must do once you get that close!

Mr.Utley,
Did you do the Panama Canal through the ship? Aprox. how much is it? We definetly want to do it but want to know how much to expect to pay and do you set it up once you get on the ship or before?
Thanks,
Lyndi

Yes, we booked the panama canal tour through the ship. It is pretty pricey, over $100 apiece. A good chunk of the price is the tariff for entering the canal, so I don't think you can do much better privately. Carnival says this tour sells out quickly so you should book it in advance. When we went, Carnival did not offer excursion sign ups online, so we booked as soon as we got onboard. They have since added the online booking on their website, and that should give you the price as well.

Thanks Mr. Utley,
If you don't mind telling me what you did at the other ports that would be great. Thought about the cave tubing and ziplines??

My review, referenced above, tells what we did. On another cruise, we did the cave tubing in Belize. It is probably the best excursion offered there. You can book it with X-Stream cave tubing at belizeexcursions.com at a significant savings over Carnival. Ziplining sounds fun, but I couldn't talk dw into it- pretty physically demanding.

Congratulations on your booking. I don't think you will be sorry. All the reviews are very good for this ship. The only negatives that I have heard is that it is very smoky. But I geuss if that is as bad as it get's you will be pretty lucky. Viet

Smoking is not allowed in the dining room nor the theater but is allowed in some public areas, cabins and casino. The Golden Fleece is now $30.00 plus tip. If you like, and desire, excellent food and service, it is worth it. But the dinig room food is also excellent. Golden Fleece offers a large lobster tail (which they shell for you) and a 24oz porterhouse steak among oher entrees. The food just keeps coming.

The smokey was in reference to some of the public area's. A friend was on this ship a few week's ago and he said there was an area that you have to pass through to get to the dinning room that was very smokey. And there were some other area's that were public area's that were very smokey.I have read this same type of thing on some of the review board's as well.I am just going to take some allergy pill's and some nose spray and not worry about it. If that's the biggest complaint there is i can live with that.. Viet

On deck 3 you have to go thru the cigar lounge to get to the main dining room. You can by-pass this area by using either deck 4 (cabins) to the rear elevators and then down to 3 or thru deck 2 to the lower level entrance to the dining room. Deck 3 also has the outside promenade tht will by-pass the ciga lounge -- but can be closed during maint or high winds.
