Kisses(Connie) passes away

Mike, I never met you or Connie. But I can only imagine how tough it must be to lose your life partner. I found this poem and hope that at some time down the road it may bring some comfort to you.

MISS ME - BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me--but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me - But Let me Go!

Sincerely,
Tom (Boat boy)

I am also in total shock. I had just come onto the computer and saw the message from Suer.

Now I have to go tell Jim this terrible news. He is outside gardening.

I also had no idea that things were so critical.
Both E and I had meet them many times, and Connie was the sweetest lady.
Never a harsh word for anyone, and so thoughtful.

The last time we saw them were at their home in Florida, and we were hoping that they would spend time with us when they made the trek back South this winter.

Mike, I am speaking for both Jim and I here.
Our care, concern and love go out to you.

I couldn't help but shed some tears when Suer called me yesterday with the sad news. Mike - our thoughts and prayers are with you and your kids. Connie was an amazing person and Keith and I are so grateful to have met the two of you. Here's a photo of one of the happy times when we were waiting to board the Mariner.

I am stunned by the news, as well. Dearest Mike/Hooked, the three of us send our condolences to you and your family, and you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

When I think of Kisses, I am brought back to the first C@ gathering in Atlantic City that my family attended. My family and I went to breakfast Saturday morning in the hotel, and there was an empty table next to a couple who were mid-way through their meal. The woman waved us over, and invited us to sit next to them. This was Connie/Kisses, and this moment of kindness is one that has never left my memories.

Hugs to all.

Thank you, iluvcruzin and Cruise Hubby for posting the pictures. It is so nice to see Connie (and everyone!) in the pictures. It makes my heart feel warm, although, so very sad.

Lisa - your description of Connie...is perfect! That is how she was.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Connie. She sounds like a lovely woman who will be much missed and so fondly remembered! My deepest condolences to "Hooked" and to all of Connie's family and friends at this time of great sorrow.

I have offered up this poem before (too many times). It was sent to me when my dear Dad passed away and it brought me great comfort. I hope Mike, that in time, you find some comfort in it too.

And That is Dying

Henry Van Dyke

“I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: “there, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”

And that is dying .”
