Lobster every night?

Hi all.
We are going for 5 nights out of Galviston on Feb.26. I was looking through the Carnival brochure and I thought I saw that lobster was a regular entree at dinner. Now I am wondering is this every night or only once during the cruise like I thought I read elsewhere?

I was out on the Conquest for a 7 day cruise and lobster was on the menu once, the surf and turf night. The lobster tail was decent size. We went and did the Supper Club ($25 pp) several days later and they brought out the meat cart and I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the size of the lobster tail they were serving, it had to be the size of my forearm. If you get a chance try it. In the end I don't think they will have it on the menu more than once in the main dining room but like a lot of other things, it doesn't hurt to ask for it even if its not on the menu!

i have to disagree with serene, lobster was not served on our formal night on the 2 cruises i have been on with carnival , it was served the first night, although i might add that they were 3 day cruises

Carnival has lobster 1 night per cruise , but I agree , even if they don't have it every single night , they should up it to 2 nights per 7 day cruise ... And maybe just prepare the meal differently each time , watch a few rachel ray shows or something.

According to the Conquest menu, the lobster (surf and turf) is on the second day- a formal night.

Dinner Menu - Day 2 Formal NiteStarters and SaladsNS Fantasy of Fresh Tropical Fruit and BerriesMississippi Delta PrawnsRagout of Wild MushroomsNS Minestrone MilaneseWest Indian Roasted Pumpkin SoupStrawberry BisqueMixed Garden and Field GreensCaesar SaladMain Courses (wait staff usually offers surf n turf automatically)Trennette PutanescaAncho Honey-Basted Fillet of Fresh Pacific SalmonBroiled Lobster Tail with Melted ButterNS Whole Roasted Quail Filled with a Delicate Herb StuffingTamarind-Rubbed, Tender Roasted Prime Rib of American Beef Au JusV Grilled Brochettes of Fresh Garden VegetablesDesserts and CheesesNS Banana GateauCappuccino PieTiramisuCherries JubileeIce Cream - Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry Butter PecanSherbet - Orange, Pineapple, LimeCheeses ---------

On the 3, 4 and 5 day cruises, it would usually also be on the night AFTER the beginning of the cruise.
The understanding is that luggage is still coming on board by early seating the first night.

yeah we always thought that was odd, this was on the fantasy and the fascination... we were always glad that we went to dinner the first night, formal night dinner was some kind of seafod pasta that we chose there was also turkey and prime rib,,, but the first night was always beef welington lobster tail and escargot, oh yeah and their HUGE prawns :)

Just as an aside. If your from the New England area you might not like the lobster. The lobster that is served is from southern waters. It doesn't taste the same. So you might opt for something else that night and not be disappointed.

I have had the same idea about the lobster being from the southern waters and not new england. Also, if your lobster was as tough as our last Celebration cruise you can have all of it you want... way too tough and rubbery.

And all this time I thought it wasn't where it was caught, it was how it was cooked....hmmmm...

lol @ mikenbec - i too thot it was how it was cooked

every cruise i have ever been on, lobster was served on the formal night (first formal night for 7 night cruise). which is usually your 2nd night out. and it was very good.

I'd think that also , if lobster were to be on every night of every cruise , people would always order it , and in about 5 yrs , there would be no lobsters left in the ocean to make new ones!

Does Carnival even serve REAL lobster or is it some make-believe fish based stuff that looks like lobster? I know that Carnival is the KING of cutting corners and saving a buck.

the lobsters ARE REAL. Now they are not my favorite, but THEY ARE REAL.

Hey, lawilliams, you seem like a nice person, but this is the second post where you are knocking Carnival. In a nice way, (and I really mean nice) I really would like to know what carnival has done to you to make you feel the way you seem to be expressing yourself. I've had a bad cruise (some my fault) and possibly a question or two for carnival, but then too I have had some excellent cruises with carnival. I am not a wine and food conisuer (sorry for the mispell) so the food doesn't bother me. And not one person yet has mentioned in the last year any other cruise where the pizza was better or served all night. Some cruises can get you killed with all the walkers and wheelchairs at the midnight buffet. And I don't need a butler. Lastly, I like cruising during the summer since my wife and I can only go at THAT time. --UNFORTUNATELY- other cruise lines don't come to new orleans during the summer. So I stick with carnival since they make themselves available to me.

Since they only serve the tail I would think they are using the Florida lobster. When it's cooked correctly it taste pretty good. Actually most of carnivals food taste good if its served hot. Thats my major beef about Carnival and the lido deck.

So lets say its lobster night and I am loving the lobster. Can I order another; and maybe another if I want one for the road; or maybe another for a night cap? (licking lips)

While I realize there are different flavors for everyone, mine just does not happen to be Carnival. Don't get me wrong, there was a time in my life that I loved Carnival (later teens until early 20's). I would basically only cruise Carnival (unless another line ran a great special). At that time, it was my cup of tea. Then, I got married, had a child & settled down. Tried Celebrity once & got hooked. I MEAN HOOKED! In all my years of cruising, I had never had such a great experience on a ship (including HAL, RCL & others). My biggest beef with Carnival is cutting corners everywhere they can. Also, they constantly push stuff on you - buy this, buy that. Typically, you can tell Carnival passengers in port by the way they act. Before anyone shoots me, I was that way too and I am sure people looked at me and my friends the same way. Since we have settled down, we prefer personalized service & (to a degree) pamperring. Carnival is not the enemy, its just not for me. It caters to a more funloving, partygoing group whereas Celebrity caters more to our style. Recently, I even noticed RCL following Carnival in cost cutting and it upset me. It made our decision to exclusively cruise Celebrity easier. Different strokes for different folks. I do not mean to step on anyones toes by voicing my opinion.

lawilliams - then why are you on this board?

and honestly, i dont mean to be rude, but we are married, with 5 children, very settled and enjoyed a wonderful cruise w/the 5 kids in january (4th carnival cruise - all were great). while i am sure there were some drunk people on board, we didnt really run into many of them. we were in fact waited on and pampered. and furthermore your comment about a better class people shows YOUR real class - you have none.
