I see where you are coming from. I too don't like some of the pushy things like the photo opts when getting off the ship. But, I really don't understand why you would want to visit this particular forum, when there is a forum for the cruise line you now enjoy. And personally, I have only been on this board for almost a year, but I see it more as an ADVICE AND HELP place instead of an opinion place, although we all sometimes get off the track (yes, even me).

Since you have cruised on several lines (and of course things have really changed) you are a seasoned salt and need to go to the right place and help the newbies get their sea legs and salt. Remember that the newbies need us!!

to get back on track about lobster. It is usually served only on formal night. I haven't been to the supper club, so I don't know if it is there everynight. And of course, if it was, I don't think I would want to pay 25 dollars per person per night to eat lobster--but then that's just little ole me!!

i didnt think that lawiwilliams was rude in anyway i thought he voiced his opinion rather well, unitimidating, and very respectfully, also as to why hes on this board, this bored is for people to ask questions and since hes cruised carnival he can probably answer many of them , and well..... i am no longer cruising carnival for a while, because it has also outgrown us... for now, we may change our minds again in a nother few years but for now we are going to try rccl and stay wit hprincess, its not that carnival is bad, its like the above poster said, theres vanilla and choc,,, both flavors are great it just depends on what your in the mood for.....

However i still come on this board to answer questions and read the posts,,, theres no law that says just because we dont cruise carnival we cant look read and post...

I would have to agree, and perhaps im wrong that carnival has lost its luster for me, perhaps its becasue of the older ships ive sailed with them,,, buy after cruising princess, and yes i know carnival owns it, its a really different expirience,,, im hoping that rccl will be different as well, and then i have 3 great lines from which to choose depending on wether i want a romantic cruise with my husband(princess) a gorgeous ship to enjoy (rccl) or a great week of casual relaxation (carnival) i have nit tried norweigan yet, but have heard such great things i may try them next year.... cruise what you like, just dont knock anyone for what they like :)

I was just trying to say that although we get off track or make opinions, I personaly like to think of this board as a helping hand type thing. And while it is an excellent thing to compare and to give an opinion, sometimes we can overdo it such as when a person makes 4 or more negative statements (posts) about someone or a company. Make the opinion and listen to the results, but don't keep giving the left and right hook for a knockout. This does not help the winner or loser or the people who are looking for helpful answers here or on any other forum on this board.

ps i am reminded of a time long ago when i kept complaining to my college friends about something. One day, one of the young ladies said "stop complaining, we are tired of hearing it. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT" I did do something about it even though it was a tough thing to do. But she was right. I was not helping myself or my friends by complaining.

pss I probably too would try another line for once. Unfortunately we can only vacation during the summer, and in june (before hurricane comes into full swing). And unfortunately, only the old defunct commdore line came to N.O. during the summer (besides carnival)..... as you can also tell we don't fly either. AND RETIREMENT IS ABOUT 16 years away for my better half--can't cruise without her!

BUT please do let me and others know how it goes with rccl after the cruise.

coffecups, i completely agree with you, and i also must admit i had not seen some of his other posts..... just the one that i posted a reply to above,,,, i for one cant slam any cruiseline, or any cruise for that matter,,, although my last cruise was not a great one, it sure beat the heck out of being at work, and cleaning my house,,,, so :) there is no such thing as a bad cruise for me....

I must interject s recent story here,,,, i work for Allstate as many of you know, and i make our daily bank deposits and have become very friendly with the girls at the bank... after all of them hearing how wonderful my cruises have been one of the girls had asked me to help her book one for her upcoming honeymoon, she just came back this week from the majesty of the seas, and vowed to never get on a boat again.... the waters were very rough she had explained and due to that most of the nightly entertainment had been cancelled, she was unable to attend dinner because of feeling so sick and so on and so forth.... when i asked her if she had taken any bonine or drammamine, she replied,,, whats that?

MOral of the story , even a bad cruise, can be made better with a little bit of knowledge.... had she read the little letter i gave her before the cruise about all the little ins and outs.... instead of when she got home, she probably would have had a better vacation... had she taken the advice of her table mates who told her that was the roughest cruise theyd ever been on, and gotten a patch or a seaband from the store,,, she would have been ok....

If youre having a not so great expirience,, SPEAK UP, someone will always be willing to point you in a better direction, if you sit and complain without doing anything about it, its no ones fault but your own.

I apologize for getting this thread off task. It is really supposed to be about eating lobster everynight.

I had originally said that you might get lobster everynight at the special dinner club (as I'll call it presently). Some one who has actually paid and ate at the special dinner club on a non formal night would be better able to answer this question. As far as regular dining goes, I haven't heard of it.




just wanted to get this thread back on track. thanks all

My wife and I are in our 60's and we have been on norwegian an rcl and we keep coming back to carnival. we have been on 8 cruises with Carnival and we like the decor and the liveliness and don't wan't boredom of the "high class cruise" we usually get a suite so we aren't looking for cheap but enjoyment, and fun. The shows are better, the comedy club is great and the food is great. The colors make you feel lively and cheerful. We enjoy watching the young people having fun because we haven't forgotten when we would have been right in the middle of them. If the ship isn't classy enough for you, I feel sorry for you as you must be a misserable person.

Lobster is served first formal night in MDR but it has 3 shrimp with it and is about 6oz. Only served 1 time and if its rubbery ask for another one. Steakhouse has a larger one but not that large. Maybe around 9oz. They will show it to you when you order. If you get the surff and turff the lobster is smaller, like 6oz and the filet is 6oz but that is very good. They are not the best grade lobsters IMHA
