My son was wounded in Afghanistan

Well, I had a premonition that something would happen sooner or later. I got a call from my son that he had been shot in the arm during an attack during the night. He is currently at Bagram Airfield and due to be airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany for more surgery. Just trying to keep calm and cool and keep facts in my head as news come. I guess the blessing out of this is that it was his right arm and he is left handed. I will keep everyone posted as to events as they unwind, but it looks like a trip to Germany is in my future.

Thanks so much everyone for the love and support!

He is at Landstuhl, has been seen by many Drs. Both bones are broken in his forearm, and the median nerve has been severed, along with tissue damage to the underside of his arm. They have are going back and forth about fixing the nerve first, then the bones, or vice versa, but he is scheduled for at least another 2 surgurys this week alone, followed by skin grafts from his hip to his arm to cover the open wound.

He calls 2-3 times per day, plus we have access to the military DSN line from his sister's work, so she talks to him as well. His dad is flying out tonight to Germany. I can't afford the costs at this time, but it sounds like they will be sending him home here for convelescent leave sometime in the next few weeks, so I am getting things ready here.

I have been in touch with an organization called Soldiers Angels who provide goodies and necessities to soldiers, both in the field and those who are injured. They are going to make sure he gets a birthday cake for his birthday next week!
