First timer on the NCL. Have read mixed reviews on the Wind. I know you have to make the best of your vacation. Would like to hear from anyone who has just returned from the Wind Cruise. Any tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The automatic tipping -what if the service is not up to par, can you request a discretionary amount.

Also would like to hear from anyone else travelling the week of Mar 6.

My hubby and I are going on our first voyage south (we're Canadian) THIS FRIDAY on the Wind. I, too, have read some mixed reviews, and am quite concerned. But, I figure I'll just make the most of it and spend most of our time on the beaches! Lots of people are 'glass half empty' kind of people and find something wrong with everything..so take it with a grain of salt and hope for a good time.

I'll post when we get back to let you know how it went!

My husband and I will be on the Wind on March 6 also. I can't wait to get away from this snow. As for the reviews I read, I think people are just too picky sometimes. I am going for the vacation (seeing the countries). It can't be as bad as some hotels I have stayed in before.

My husband and I just got back from a cruise on the Wind. We had a great time, but luxury liner this is not. The food is okay and the service is hit and miss. Out of the 7 dinners, we had a not-so-pleasant waiter on 2. There is sometimes a wait to be seated in the main dining room (sometimes up to 45 minutes if you're eating between 6-7), but we're late eaters anyways and after 7:30 there isn't much of a wait (maybe 5 min). Most of the time we ate at the Italian restaurant which took reservations. Our room steward was great - very friendly and helpfull. The dive-in instructors were also great.
But, we went on the cruise to visit the ports (Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel), the cruise was just a way for us to get there. We didn't let anyhing bother us and for the price we paid for the cruise, we had a pretty AMAZING time.

skysmama,

Do you recall what the fitness centre was like? What types of fitness classes were offered?

Thank You!

The fitness center was good sized-not huge, but enough room to move around in. It had free weights, universal, treadmill, stairclimber, bike - that's all I can really remember. The classes they offered were different every day. They had aerobics, cardio kick boxing, muscle toning, abs and yoga. There's also different tournaments - basketball, volleyball, table tennis. Every evening, they had a walk a mile. I don't remember what the fitness center hours were, but they were open pretty late - maybe even 24hrs? Not sure.
By the shore excursion desk, they have a flyer that lists all the sports activities for the week and details about the gym.
Hope that helps!

We are taking the 11 day Hawaii cruise on the Wind. We keep reading about the Sewage odors and poor condition of the Ship. What was your opinion? We are very close to cancelling.

i heard some very good things about this cruise line. i think mostly all the people that are really picky about how they want things done come on here and complain about it. also the ones that liked the cruise don't come and put a message on here. so you only see all the bad remarks towards the cruise line and not the good ones. i will be cruising on the wind on march 6 also. this will be my first cruise ever!!! should be great!

I was hoping to meet up with lots of people and buy lots of drinks for everyone!! Anyway, I know it's gonna be a sweet time...i just feel like it's taking forever for it to get here! No more work!!! MORE CRUISING!!!
