I know how difficult this is; you're brain is saying it is the right thing to do while your heart is saying something different. What I do know for certain is you do not want to do what I did & wait too long for that is a terrible burden that I live with that I let my pet suffer. Wish I could reach out & ease your pain but only time will do that. My thoughts are with you.

I wish I could help in some way but please know that those of us who have been in your shoes will be thinking of you and Lizzie.

Many Thanks to everyone, Lizzie went to Rainbow Bridge this morning.
She had had a restless night and her tummy was swollen, I was actually worried about her.
She did wake up with her usual tail wagging and she had fresh chicken for breakfast. :)
The vet came to the car to sedate her and I sat next to her and loved her until she fell asleep. The only bad thing was the sedative I gave her before we set off didn't touch her, she was up and watching her 'dad' go into the vets, she wanted to make sure she wasn't missing anything. The vet came out and gave her a sedative, she still didn't go to sleep so she had to give her a 2nd injection. That's just Lizzie she was a little fighter and very obstinate when she wanted to be which is apparently a beagle trait, so she was my little miss up until the end!
We just took Guinness out for a run in the car and now we are all home with heavy hearts BUT I know we did the best we could for her and she knew we loved her very much. I now have to make sure Guinness doesn't grieve too much.
Again , many thanks to everyone.

Barbara - I'm so sorry. I'm sure Lizzie was met by many family members and friends at Rainbow bridge, and is now romping around pain-free.

We all know what a horrid decision this is to make, but you did it for love of Lizzie. We, who are left behind, are the ones with aching hearts.

You did the most unselfish and most loving act possible for your beloved Lizzie.

Barbara, I feel so bad for you but I believe that restlessness during the night & swollen tummy was just a little sign from someone above to reassure you that you were in fact doing the right thing. If she could, I'm sure Lizzie would say "thank you mom" for taking such good care of me & getting me beyond this bad feeling that has been happening inside me. Your heart is heavy but Lizzie is now free from all that was hurting her.

Oh, Babs, I know how hard this was for you to do, but I have to agree with KathyC. Someone was letting you know that you had made the right choice.

She's in a far far better place.

My heart breaks for you and Phil, Barbara, but little Lizzie has been reunited with Morris and is frolicking with the Cruise @ddicts family of furbabies who crossed Rainbow Bridge previously.

Our fur babies have such a short life compared to ours, and it's so heart breaking to say good bye to them, but the joy they give us through the years is measured in tears when the end comes. It's a blessing that we can help our pets over the end so they can avoid pain, and knowing that we gave them love and a warm home for their lifetime makes it much easier. Hugs.

BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be.
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night.
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Even though we all know when we make the right decision for our furkids, it still hurts like the dickens. They give us unconditional love and unfortunately our final decision is showing them our unconditional love for them by sending them to the Rainbow Bridge. Still thinking of you and your DH.
