No more Boston departures?

Hello, All,

Can anyone offer any insight as to why I can't find any Royal Caribbean Cruises based out of Boston, MA anymore? The Black Falcon terminal was very convenient for me (and my wife), and I miss not having the "Jewel" in town to take us to Caribbean or Canada/New England! I can't find any RCL ship leaving from Boston for 2007 or 2008. The two I took in 2004-2005 seemed to be "full" so the company should have made $$$$ on the trip....Help!:S

[Sorry if this has already been covered - I've been away from this forum for a while...]

Thanks!

Yup looks like you're right. Sure don't know why =huh

Looks like HAL Maasdam and NCL Majesty are the two ships form Boston next season.

I know, it's sad. The ships we took from Boston were always full. I don't understand their logic.

The Jewel of the Sea is moving to Europe for next year and then in the late fall/winter to the Caribbean. It does look like RCCL has given up on Boston.

Having taken the Jewel from Boston it was quite convenient and as stated, Full.

Boston was busy Port this year as a Port of Call, more than embarkation.

I think one reason is that the Europe sailings are so popular and sooo profitable. The same reason Celebrity completely abandoned the Caribbean in the Summer months.

JW has been in Europe during the summer season since inauguration.
Next fall (October 8) she will go into DD for the DG conversion, hence no time for Boston 2007.

Roland, please forgive my ignorance, but what is "DG conversion"? I get that DD = DryDock, but I can't get the other abbreviation.... Thanks,

Any ideas on where her DD will be?

NCL has used Boston for DD in the past.

By DG conversion I was referring to the installation of auxiliary diesel generators on all RCCL gas turbine vessels to produce electricity more efficiently and inexpensively during 2007 and 2008. Pre installation will start on January 15 on the JW.

Just returned from the Jewel repositioning. It was fantastic and we will miss her being here next year. RCI says they will return in 2008 and we can only hope it will be the Jewel again. Repo cruise was not at capacity and the late bargain prices are probably an indication that they do not sell as well out of Boston as we would all like to believe. In the meantime the Explorer will visit Boston as a port of call as a part of a Bermuda cruise out of Bayonne next November.

They have to hit a foreign port prior to visiting Bermuda, PH. Boston is like Ensenada is to the west coast.
