They have to hit a foreign port prior to visiting Bermuda, PH. Boston is like Ensenada is to the west coast.
Now that's funny, San!:D Of course, Bill won't think so.

All,

Many thanks to you all for your input. I also asked the same question on Royal Caribbean's main web-site, and also on their investor-relations web-site. The main web-site response was not helpful, but yesterday investor-relations responded with good news!

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, Jewel will be in drydock and not available to vist Boston in 2007. But, the email thanked me for my interest in the port of Boston, and they are happy to report that the Jewel will be back in 2008! =docdance

So, I'll just have to suffer and do the Western Caribbean on Liberty next year. (spoiled brat, I know) and wait till 2008 to enjoy the convenience of the port of Boston again. Thanks again for all your input!

Yea, well, you have to get shots to get off in BOS, so I think I'll be remaining aboard.

No, it's rabies this time. Think that dog, Bill, is a carrier.....the CDC just hasn't caught him yet.....keeps going on cruises.

The JEWEL OF THE SEAS is going into drydock for diesel conversion...I have heard Holland...but...Germany might also be the place...we shall see. The JEWEL JOS will then sail to Southampton, England and pick up passengers on October 30th 2007 for her Repo to Spain-Madeira-Tenerife and on to Fort Lauderdale. This will be a 12 night transatlantic...I should say trans-southern-atlantic...warm weather in the 70's and 80's and hopefully calm seas!!!

RCI has consistently screwed up the Boston reservations over the past 3 years. They have allowed TA's to block book cabins without substantial deposits. The net result has been late cancellations and empty cabins at the last minute...this might have something to do with RCI's reluctance to use Boston as a home port. There is also a large fuel expenditure when leaving from Boston. I think RCI prefers to leave from New Jersey instead.

I agree...everyone I know loves to sail from Boston. It is a great city to fly into for a pre-cruise vacation and the port facilities are very nice. I would think that RCI could come up with something...but 2007 looks to be a quiet year for RCI in Boston.

We will be flying over to London to join the JOS next October as we had originally planned to sail from Boston. The JOS repo for next year looks too good to pass up. For those of you who have not sailed on the JEWEL OF THE SEAS...I have to say...she is the most beautiful ship in the entire RCI fleet!!!:)

Jewel of the Seas is not getting a diesel conversion.....she is getting a diesel generator added. The Gas Turbines will remain for ship's propulsion.

Thanks Your Lordship!
How come you know so much about these things?
Just one small addition. Under normal conditions, one GT + DG will be used for proulsion. This can handle 90% av all speed legs.

Oh yea, I should have let you handle technical things......didn't know you were listening though. [Some nice gentleman from Sweden told me.]

Where is the DG going to be installed?

I should have been clearer....I was wondering where, in the ship, the DG will be installed.
