Mike had a wonderful day yesterday. Today he couldn't walk without being light headed and he had a terrible cough. He ate a little oatmeal just enough to get his meds in and couldn't eat much else. Of coure I tried all day to get food into him cooking a pot roast, a shepard's pie and lasagna. He didn't want anything. About 6pm. He got up to go into the kitchen and next thing I know he crashed to the floor. When he fell the breakfast bar stools and everything came back down on top of him and he slammed his head. I ran to him got his airway open and started yelling and rubbing on his face and chest. He regained consciousness after about 45 seconds, and I ran to call 911. I got him rolled up into a seated position and he wasn't arguing at all with me about the ambulance. He was really not good and he knew it. They transported him ,I grabbed some clothing for him and followed. His blood pressure was high to low, low to high, his pulse was all over the place and his oxygen sats were anywhere from 62 to 90 only reachiing 100 one time. A great ED doc listened carefully to his symptoms, started all of the tests and said he was afraid he nearing another acute MI. But he didn't like the way he presented and the shortness of breath, listened to Mike and I carefully about what had been happening, and sent him to cat scan for lung scans as well as chest scans.. About an hour later the results came back. Mike has not one blood clot but fields of blood clots in both lungs. He came back and 6 blankets were not enough to get him warm I was covering him up with blanket after blanket and he was just shivering.
They called in a pulmanary specialist, a new cardiologist, as well as an internest. They gave him a large bolus of heparin and then hung a bag pushed very fast. The second bag was going in as I left. They also administered a killer dose of coumadin. Should Mike start to dump they will try TPA. But with recent surgery they didn't dare try that except as last resort afraid of hemmorage somewhere. The doctor told him he is in perilous condition for the next 24 hours to 36 hours. I couldn't take anymore I broke down totally. They offered me valium which I did not take I am all alone here and had to drive myself home. I really wanted to sit by his bedside but unfortunately after I broke down Mike became more upset about me and it was just not good for him to see me in such bad shape. So I drove home and will sit by the phone. I just can't stop crying. I'm a mess, I couldn't upset him anymore, he was so tired he had worked so hard to breathe all day and all night he needs to rest. They are pumping him full of fluids,,,,,but very nervous because his BP is too low and very unstable. So they are really filling him up with fluids to help him flush things out and to get his BP up. He needs the volume. The cardiologist was wonderful with him he liked her. She told me he is where he needs to be thanks to you, he is going to be closely monitored, it is going to be touch and go, and insisted that he go to ICU. The pulmonary specialist had not seen him yet.
Right in the middle of this a code came in, to the bed in ER next to MIke. Full arrest CPR all the way in. They finally declared her dead about 15 minutes after arrival. I just looked at Mike and said don't even think about that S H I T. He said he would do his best.
Please, if you could spare some major prayers, Mike really needs them. He is in pretty scary shape right now. I don't know what else to do except ask for prayers. He just needs to make it through this night.
