We have read that Celebrity is not allow you to order a second entree at dinner. Does anyone know if this is true? We are sailing on the Galaxy out of Charleston on March 7. Thanks!!
Haven't been onboard for a while but at no time on any line have I not been able to "sample the ..??... please" It usually comes after your waiter has made sure all his people are looked after and have their meals.
Last year on Infinity several at our table asked for two entrees - the requests were honored VERY RELUCTANTLY. We were surprised and disappointed. We were not totally happy with our wait staff and I think there may have been a language problem.
This past year I was on the Century and Galaxy and at no time had trouble getting two meals. Come on whats the Prime Rib without the Lobster. Got to have Surf and Turf. Enjoy.
Waiters are permitted to carry a maximum of 16 dinner plates on their trays. If they have a full station (16), they can't bring second entrees out until every guest has received a first. In order to serve seconds, they have to go back to the kitchen and back onto the entree line. That may be why some waiters are reluctant to offer seconds. We've never seen anyone denied additional entrees, but we have seen tablemates have to wait patiently for them while other guests were being served.
Two entrees seems very glutonous to me. When I dine at a nice restaurant, I don't expect my server to bring me two entrees and I certainly don't expect it to be free!! If you want to eat that much...use the buffet.
Maybe the cruise lines and or travel agents should not always be hinting that you can order or eat as much as you want at any meal. If the portions that the cruise ships serve, were served in a resturant most resturant customers would be irate.
If you built a business bragging about your food as the cruise lines have done, don't complain when people ask for more.
Thanks for all the information. I appreciate the replys. Those who scolded me, don't worry, I have no intention of wasting food. There will be no food left on the plate. However, this will be just our second cruise in ten years, a 20th anniversary celebration ...we don't do it a lot and we pay a lot for the experience, so if the cruise line will let me sample a second entree for my fare, then I will gratefully do so
Come on people - one of the nice things about this board, is that we don't tend to judge other people, or jump down someone's throat if they post a dissenting opinion. All the person asked was if you could get a second entree - we don't know anything else beyond that. Bye the way, the answer is yes, at least for the four Celebtiry ships I have been on this past year.

ktown, that was a very gracious reply to the people who jumped down your throat. I don't think I would have shown that much restraint. All you did was ask a question.
As for being wasteful and gluttonous, perhaps we should all reflect for a moment that we are all very priviliged to be able to take such luxurious vacations (even with only one entree at dinner) when there are people who can't afford a decent meal at home.
Recently off the Summit. A person at the table next to us at one seating had a double shrimp cocktail (every night), 3 different soups, salad, 2 entrees and at least 2 deserts.
My husband ALWAYS has Surf and Turf, or sometimes a meat and a pasta dish !
I don't think he is a glutton. He doesn't load up at the buffet during the day
