Prayers needed for Frasier

DH is on his way to the veterinary hospital ER with our cat, Frasier. His blood sugar level was very low this morning, and I was able to get it up by feeding him, but my main concern is that he is panting badly. We have the a/c on in all rooms, yet that didn't help, nor did force-feeding him fluids. I have had several cats in my lifetime, and have never seen anything like this.

Please pray that the vet can help him.... and that, if he can't, that Frasier will be comfortable.

Thank you. His vet believes it is an infection, and is treating it with antibiotics. The panting had stopped by the time DH arrived with him, and Frasier had a fever of 103, which is about one degree above normal. The fever would explain the low blood sugar reading, as cats tend to avoid food when they are not feeling well. I hope that it is just the stress of the fever, as there are other causes of panting in cats, many of which are very serious. He's there for observation today. The vet will call us this afternoon to let us know where we go from here. It's possible he can come home tonight.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this Lisa.

Hopefully Frasier only has an infection and will respond to the antibiotics.

Prayers for Frasier.

Lisa I hope that Frasier is feeling a bit better. It is so scary when our beloved furbabies are ill and can't tell us what is wrong. Prayers are on the way.

Thank you again. He is home, and his breathing and temperature have returned to normal. We are to give him an antibiotic twice a day, and make sure that he eats to avoid another low blood sugar reading. Also, the threshold we use when determining whether he receives his insulin injection has been raised. We won't have a very happy cat, but at least he's with us. It was very frightening to see my sweetie on his side struggling to breathe. Thanks again for everyone's prayers...they worked.

Awwww Lisa, i'm so sorry Frasier has been a sick kitty. I'm happy he's better, but we'll keep the prayers going. Dealing with diabetic kitties can be tricky.

Our kitties are our kids, and it just stuns us when they are not feeling well. I was following this on FB during the day, and then was happy to see this evening he was feeling better. Glad you are too!

Thank you, sage. He was still slightly warm last night, yet appears to be well on the road to recovery this morning. He's sleeping more than usual (like we can really tell with a cat, right?), which is good as it is part of the recovery process. His ears were cool this morning, telling us that the fever has subsided. He jumped onto the dining room table as I was eating breakfast, so that is very encouraging. 24 hours earlier, he could barely walk.

Thank you again, everyone! Prayers definitely worked in this case.

Sorry to read of this Lisa. I'll add your family and your fur-baby to my prayer list. Hugs to you.

(And I hope you had a great cruise - when you have a spare moment send me a PM with the details!)

He's improving, and just about back to what is normal for him. He devoured his breakfast, and then jumped onto the dining room table from the floor to take a few laps of PizzaBoy's leftover milk. After we gave him his antibiotic, he disappeared for several hours to take a long nap under the bed. (He usually naps on top of the bed.) So, we're letting him sleep as much as he wants to get this infection out of his system. Thank you again for asking!
