for Josie my 12 year old schnauzer. She has a large abdominal tumor and we're waiting for an ultrasound to see if they can tell if it's cancer and/or if we operate. Just sitting here holding her waiting for them to call with the ultrasound appointment. Wish us luck. Thanks

Your post bought back memories of our Min. Sch. "Clancey". I have a special fondness for Schnauzers as when my mum & dad were alive they showed them professionally after dad retired from the Air Force. At one time we had 14 of them! I'll be keeping Little Josie in my thoughts and prayers today along with yourself, I know how nerve-wracking these things can be. =hug :angel :dog

Sue, I know how wracking this is for you. Prayers it isn't cancer, and an operation is all she needs. Please let us know how it goes.

Sue, sorry to hear about little Josie. We too, had a Schnauzer named Oreo, she was the sweetest dog.

Hope all the tests come back with good results, and give Josie a hug for me :)

It is so heart breaking when a furbaby is sick and waiting for answers is so difficult. Many yrs ago we had a Schnauzer; he was such a great dog. Positive thoughts coming your way that this is something that can easily be fixed.

Just back from the vet - pancreatic cancer tumor - fills 2/3 of the abd. Sudden onset is normal for pancreatic ca. Even in adults its usually too late by the time symptoms develop. Will take her in tomorrow to go over the Rainbow Bridge where she can meet up with Sweetie Pie (the schnauzer I lost in December) and they can have a great time. Meanwhile trying to keep the tears to a minimum. Thanks all.

I just saw your notes and am choking up. I'm so sorry, Sue. I know my Topaz (whom I lost to cancer) will be waiting for her at the other side of Rainbow Bridge. As heartbreaking and difficult as this will be, remember you are doing a kindness for your furbaby. {{{Hugs}}}

=hug=hug=hug So sorry to read this...it is always so painful! If Josie could talk I know that this poem is exactly what she would tell you. =hug=hug=hug

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Oh Sue, I'm so very sorry! But please be assured that your doing the best thing possible, even tho it hurts like heck right now. Beryl posted a poem that say's it all, I often read that poem when we had to send our "Clancey" over to Rainbow Bridge. "Joise" will be greeted by all the other C@-"Furbabies" that have gone on before her. Take time to grieve and heal, and remember the good times, and take comfort in knowing you gave her the best life possible. My thought's & prayers will be with you Sue, just wish I could be there in person to give you this =hug :angel :dog

I certainly feel your pain; losing our furbabies is so hard. Although your heart is breaking you know it is the right thing to do; our furbabies are so helpless when it comes to being ill & they depend on us to help them so they don't suffer. Your friend will be free of pain & will have lots of playmates from cruise-addicts to greet her.
