I booked a cruise on the Century this week @ $1799..pp. I now see it on the Celebrity website @ 1599pp. How do I get them to honor the reduced price?

If you utilized a travel agent, call them immediately and request the price cut. They will lock the lower
price in for you. Make sure they send you a new confirmation. If you booked directly with Celebrity,
call them and do the same. You really shouldn't encounter any resistance, but remember if they balk
you can cancel the cruise and rebook at the new price. Do not delay however. The prices could go
up again.

=yeah You should be able to get the reduced price as long as you are not within the cancellation penalty period. If you're inside of the penalty phase it could be a problem.

thanks for your replies...Celebrity could not have been nicer. They rebilled me at the lower price without any hassle at all.

I've had the price changed within 3 weeks of sailing. I always booked direct with Celeb, and they always immediately credited me for the lowest price prior to booking. I often suggest people check the site monthly before sailing to see if a better cabin opened up, or if the price dropped.

If you mean did I get the lower price after I made my final payment, yes. Final payment is due 90 days prior. I've gotten a refund on the credit card I used right up until sailing, if there was a price drop in my cabin class.

Remember, I called Captains Club direct and asked for the price difference. They were always happy to oblige. The policy is if you don't ask, they aren't going to volunteer, however, if you can find the lower price posted before you sail and you call them, they will indeed credit you right up until sailing

It is probably because of the Captain's Club status or maybe because it is Celebrity's good service. Usually, after final payment, cruise lines won't usually budge on giving you the lower price.

Maybe. I was Elite at the time...or it might just be a Celeb thing. All I know, is I got the difference.:daisy

Ya done good Connie :thumb but is definately the exception rather than the rule. I just didn't want people reading this thread to think it happens all the time. An elite member would definately get more consideration that a newbie. :)

Usually if you are outside penalties the cruise line would have to honor the lower price or you could just cancel and rebook which would be a lot bigger paperwork mess than just adjusting the rate. Inside of penalty it will cost you to cancel, usually more than the difference in fare so the cruise line will decline to honor the lower price because they don't have to. Sad but true.

Hey Michael,
I think part of the reason is I never use a TA, I always book on line and then call Captains Club with special requests, cabin changes or price changes. Never had to cancel and rebook. Takes out the middleman or woman. I booked a few times with cruise.com in years past, never much liked them, even if I could save a couple dollars. AND if you cancel a cruise (even the day after you book), they snatch $50 off the top for a booking "fee" and you wait weeks for your deposit back. No thanks - LOL

Celeb always had the money back within 48 hours.

Of course, now that I am once again a newbie...ick! :( with Princess...I'll have to get used to not receiving the "Celebrity Treatment"...in more ways than one. I've got top tier status with most every line out there except Princess, but it's the only one I'd consider in 2008, after sailing Celeb since the 90's. They've all changed....a lot.

That may be true for other cruiselines, but Celebrity will honor a lower price even after final payment for all provided you notify them about the lower price. However there is an exception - if the lower price is for new bookings only you cannot get the lower price.

That's good to know. Thanks :thumb I don't think I have ever had that issue with a client on Celebrity before.

I guarantee you it would never happen with a Carnival booking.

It is good that you get great service from Celebrity's agents. As a T/A, I can tell you that Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are the best to work with both in making bookings and in customer service. Princess agents are usually good too. Some people have really good luck working directly with the cruise lines but newbies don't always know the right questions to ask in order to get the best service. Being a veteran, you know the ropes very well (probably better than some of the T/A's I know). :thumb

I had some great relationships for many years with senior staff that probably led to a few breaks. But then again, I was with HAL for over 15 years, and I don't recall getting the same "treatment".

Sort of in the same vein

Here's my question:

DH & I are booked on an aft CC class cabin for an Alaskan cruise in 2 weeks.

After reading this thread, I check Celebrity's website, and while all the CC cabins are sold out, 1 FV cabin (aft) remains, AT A SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER PRICE.

Do you think Celebrity will allow me to make the change to the bigger/less expensive cabin?

Is it worth it to lose CC status?

Who did you book with? If not directly with Celebrity, (like cruise.com) they will not honor the lower price.

If you did book with them direct, call Captain's Club (assuming you are a member) and ask nicely. Obviously, there are price drops if the ship doesn't sell out. So you "pay a price" for guaranteeing a cabin and purchasing in advance. That said, I can only advice you call the Captains Club and ask for the price adjustment.

Worse case scenario, you can cancel your cabin and rebook the lower priced cabin

And remember - the cabin MUST BE THE SAME CLASS as the one you booked....not all CC cabins are in the same class.
