All the Royal Champions that I know....well, one can be a little whacky Gee ... I thought you were talking about Bill!:lol

San - As president of the SCUM OF THE EARTH CLUB, what are you offering to bribe us to say nice things about RCI? I want more than a free 2 day cruise. How bout throwing in some casino money and free shore excursions? Oh wait - a 2 day cruise doesn't go anywhere, does it? Just double the casino money instead!!!!

RCCL needed all this negative attention at this time like a hole in the head. It's created so many hard feelings and has brought out the worst in some people. It's really a shame and that woman who started it should, even as I type, be filing for unemployment. She really opened a can of worms!

I'll come clean...
I am one of those evil "Royal Champions"...
So far, what I have gotten from the deal is a free one-night "Pre-Inaugural" cruise on the Mariner of the Seas when it got here to LA...
The purpose? Along with about three thousand travel agents and a few hundred media types, we got a very short opportunity to "preview" the ship...a buffet lunch, a dinner, an ice show, some marketing presentations really aimed at the travel agents...a cabin to sleep in and off the ship early the next morning...They rolled the ship off the dock and out into the waters between LA and Catalina so they could open the casino and shops ...and then brought it back to the dock in the morning...

The "value" of all that? Well, considering I have a 7 night Mariner cruise booked for January for about $700 pp for a prime balcony (after Diamond C& A discount and TA OBC and including port fees and taxes), we're looking at about $100 per person per day...18 hours on this one with no port visits? Maybe call it worth about $75 pp?

Yeah...Anyone really think RCI "bought" my positive comments and reviews by giving me a freebie worth about $150? Did they buy it anymore than Carnival did with the multi-category upgrade they gave me on my last cruise with them (easily worth MORE than $150)? My reviews on that cruise were extremely negative...

I have been posting on Cruise @ddicts since its inception...and other sites as well...and anyone who knows me knows that I have been consistent in my comments and criticisms...positive and negative...long before anyone invited me to be a "Royal Champion" or any other reward handed out by any cruise line...

And, yes, I have cruised many, many times on 7 different cruise lines...

I DO like Royal Caribbean...but not because of any rewards...because I have long thought they have a very good product and good value and provide a good cruise experience...

There is nothing sinister going on here...nothing more than similar freebies bestowed by EVERY cruise line...

Royal Caribbean NEVER instructed me in any way as to what to post on any message board...there really were no strings attached...

Well, seeing as you never could pass FCAT, I don't think that you could write a positive review anyway......so, nothing:D

BS, I think that you should take up your concerns with Rachel Hancock and Cruise Critic.....they're the ones that have put RCs in a very bad light. IMHO of course.

I actually would have offered you a glass of wine....however, I have been invited to say nice things about RCs.........I think they might offer me a pre-inaugural if I'm good:D. But, hey, for you, the drinks are on me....just don't tell anyone.

San - Say it isn't so ... You're selling out by being nice to the RCs for a pre-inaugural? Whatever has happened to the original SofE? You're letting the rest of us SofE (me) down!!! And as for that "free" drink, thanks for nothing!!!:girly

Well, you know BB, you could remedy that by giving me a better offer than a lousy 2 day cruise with everything onboard paid for. I can be bought....... I do fit in much better with SotEs.

Hey, I've got that great guest room overlooking the lake, ya know. I've been known to treat people to more than 2 nights here. I also throw in delicious food and plenty of drinks. Plus all the fishing off the dock you might want to do. You have to admit that offer is better than a 2 day cruise.

Yeah......but do I have to pay for my own air fare?

You know, you're going to get us both thrown off of here, don't you?

I find this interesting. I have only been on RCCL for cruising. My family and I absolutely loved the experiences we've had with RCCL. I'm sure we are not the only ones. In fact, we hesitate to book any other line because of this. If RCCL wants to do something nice for marketing then so beit. Myself and many others who have sailed with RCCL do not hesitate to spread the news about the company. They don't need to pay anyone to say good things about them. They just need to keep doing what they do best.

I have enjoyed the comedy on this post, you guys are awesome!!

OK, this post is obviously way too positive about Royal CHAMPION Cruise Line, so there is no doubt in my mind that you are a Royal Champion and receiving goodies from Royal CHAMPION Cruise Line in exchange for positive reviews.

You know "the truth will set you free", so, you are welcome to join us as a Scum of the Earth. We always feel comfortable being critical of RCI....and one of us is taking a Carnival Cruise in the near future and I will probably switch to Celebrity after the next two trips.

PH has always had an open invitation to join our society, but, so far, she has failed to see that she could also be a good Scum!:D

Ha Ha!!! Great post, San. I will confess that I am the one doing a Carnival cruise next month. After like 30 RCCL cruises, I still like Carnival (7th cruise with them) and want to see if they too are cutting back. I will never get to being a Royal Champion, but I don't really care. I like having fun on a cruise and whichever cruise line meets our needs, I'm willing to go with them.
