TOP O’ THE MORNIN’ TO YA O’BUNNIES! That day of the year everybody had a little blarney in them. Traditionally the day people here in The Burg put out their Patty O’Furniture. I feel like we’re in the capital of Ireland because the price of gas is Dublin!
I’m here all week.
Laugh Laughing GIF

Pat, we have a friend who makes those little “funeral sandwiches” with the Hawaiian Rolls. Her daughter lives in Cleveland and every time she visits she stocks up on them. I would think that Publix would be upping their game with more competition coming in. Like Aldi’s, Krogers and so on. Good to sleep through the rough weather!
Speaking of rough weather, Karen’s contractor wasn’t even at her sister’s place. It was the weather that took care of the demo work. How‘s our little four legged patient doing? Does weather bother her? My old Bear hated storms.

a grocery bill like that to often might cause a cardiac problem...
So that’s where it started…
Kathie I do like the look of, as we call them, California Shutters. They are clean, classy and I don’t think they are as trendy as some window coverings. Sadly here everyone, us included, seems to be opting for “the window covering of the month”, Zebra Blinds.
A little tenderness, I thought, would be expected Bill. No driving would, well, drive me nuts. I had to deal with being a passenger for two months last year. March Madness is what happens when Lu-Ann and I have to pack up in FL to head home.
Our Florida neighbour, a permanent resident, had a huge miniature cactus collection Nancy. He would bring them out on to the lanai and inspect them, feed them and tend to them. Some in their own pots. Some three to a pot. I suspect it was his hobby. He also had an incredible little palm tree. It looked to be about 8 inches tall.
Good call on doubling up on the doctor visits Dave. We try to do that for annual checkups with our family doctor and dentists. Do you think they have King’s Hawaiian Rolls in Hawaii? I don’t recall seeing them on our cruise. Did you? I was too busy watching “Retail Therapy” in the horse race. ;)
I’m not sure what today has in store but I’m pretty sure groceries are t on the list and a stop at Starbucks for double star day is.
All of you fine folks have an excellent and safe day.

For today it seems like we're ALL IRISH! LOL

Dave/Kathi: Hope your appts go well for you both. Dave I hope you didn't drink any GREEN BEER before you had to give the "little sample" to the nice nurse! Ha Ha

Art is already off to the dentist across town to get that #12 space worked on. OUCH. Hope the Temporary GLUE sticks this time. It's a long time between now and Monday when they're open if it falls out! (it happened with his last front teeth. ALWAYS SOMETHING.

You all have a fantastic St Patty's Day. We ate our Corned Beef last night and it was surprisingly very good.

I'm out of chatter this morning, so I'll spare you any rambling on! Later gang. BE SAFE. And prayer for the families in Ukraine.

Good morning. Corned Beef and Cabbage is on the menu for tonight. I will say the weight loss was a nice surprise when I changed up my diet last year and fortunately it is still happening. I don't have any plans for today.

All have a great day.

Top of the morning to you all!! Wow! What a chatty bunch you were already this morning! Lots of good stuff for me to read.

Nancy - I'm starting a raised herb garden on our lanai. Seeing as how I am not supposed to use salt now, it was recommended that I use herbs instead. I have all sorts of dried herbs, but I love the smell of fresh herbs. Now I'm just waitinf for Lowe's or Home Depot to put the plants on sale. Tried growing from seeds a few years ago, but that never was very successful. Starting with plants will work better.

Dave - I hope you and Kathi had a good check up and that you both got told that the doctor will see you next year.

Lee - You totally cracked me up this morning with the first part of your post. I wonder why Canada has not yet started selling Kings Hawaiian rolls yet? By the way, not sure if you saw or heard that they now make pretzel rolls too. Can't wait to give them a try.

Kathie - Glad your corned beef and cabbage was good. We have 3 pieces of corned beef (13 lbs)to make today, plus 2 heads of cabbage, 2 lbs carrots and 5 lbs potatoes! M&J and G&E will all be here with their kids, so we need to make plenty. I will actually have to cook it in 2 huge pots. The good part is that while it's a lot of food, it doesn't take much to prep it and get the show on the road.

Karen - I hope the rains hold off on the reno, otherwise, the bathroom area could be considered an outdoor shower!! LOL

Ended up having a really nice day yesterday. After Home Health, our neighbors stopped by for a while. Good seeing them in a setting other than the hospital. Just before they arrived I got a phone call from Laurie who wanted to know if we wanted some company. I of course, said yes, as we don't see them very often. We had a great visit and they ended up staying for chicken cacciatore. It was just the right amount considering that G&E were staying over at the new place last night.

Got Home Health coming around 1:30 today. I told the gal that she can help getting our dinner started. Her answer was "HUH?" :emoticon 0136 giggle:

Have a wonderful day, everyone, and don't drink too much Irish coffee or green beer!!

Kathie - I remember you once mentioning about buying a certain type of gourmet popcorn kernels. Do you happen to remember what brand they were? Seeing as how I can't have all the regular salty snacks that the rest of the family can, I can at least have popcorn. I've got good old Orville's kernels, but I'd like to get some gourmet type also. Do you remember what it was that you bought?

Happy St. Patrick's day all!!

Well, the curse of the Florida contractors has struck again...the guy was supposed to come today for the roof, Barb texted him last night to find out what time & he never responded till around 10 this morning to say he wasn't coming....he was "supposedly" meeting a roofer at his house between 10-12 to inspect damage he had from last Tues. storms....why he couldn't come after that is a mystery...especially since this is Barb's last day off....now he say's he'll be there tomorrow...I'd hate to have to try to find someone else to finish the job but if he can't or won't show up when he say's he will we may have to...
No corn beef & cabbage here...I'm going to Sonny's BBQ tonite to get my free birthday "big deal"...sandwich, side & a drink...
Enjoy your day all...I'm off to read a book & relax for a bit

Whew........I thought I missed your BIRTHDAY KAREN. It's Monday! ;)

I just can't believe the issues you Floridians have with contractors. UNREAL. And not calling you folks to keep in touch seems to be the biggest issue. Take a deep breath and hope tomorrow will be better. Maybe you can just tie a long rope around him and not let him leave the property until he gets the job done. Thank goodness NO MONEY has changed hands yet. Like that would ever happen after all the experiences you girls have had with workers.

BB: I bought Mushroom Popcorn from a farmer years ago. It's not anything special if you ask me. Just ROUND and maybe a tad less husks.

FYI: I know you know this, BUT.... Corned Beef has tons of Sodium in it. I simmered mine yesterday for 3.5 hours and in a big pot of water and it still was salty. Be careful!

What Is Mushroom Popcorn?

Mushroom popcorn kernels produce firm, round pieces of popcorn with a bit of chewiness. Mushroom popcorn is different from butterfly popcorn which is light and airy, and tends to pop into complicated shapes. Butterfly popcorn is often served in movie theaters, whereas mushroom popcorn is best suited for making kettle corn and other types of candied popcorn, since its round shape makes it ideal for coating in sugar and syrups.

67F and sunny. Going on my first Spring Bike Ride around the neighborhood.
Enjoy your day folks.

Lee: I bet it's beautiful by Navy Park today! I see a few walks in your day!

Kathie - I know corned beef is loaded with salt. After rinsing the meat & cutting all the fat off, we cooked the corned beef for 4 hours. I really don't eat a lot of the corned beef and prefer the cabbage and potatoes better. I will wash it all down with Guinness Stout. :emoticon 0140 rofl:

karen - Hopefully, I will remember to wish you a happy birthday on your REAL birthday. Would you believe I have never gotten iny of the freebies that were available for my birthday!!

Our dinner is getting close to being ready. It smells so good in here. Missy came over earlier and made a bathch of green cupcakes for dessert. The other crew, as usual is going to be late. They are coming for dinner, at least a half hour later then I told them for dinner, and then driving back to Melbourne tonight. And I am trying not to stress. I am so ready for them to just move over there and be done with it!!!

Weather here yesterday was DElightful. Sunny and 70 degrees. Which is actually unusual around here on Saint Patrick's Day. There's only 3 other years on record for it being 70 degrees or higher. Usually it's much colder, and often with snow flurries.

It was so nice that I could just leave the back door wide open, with no screen across it so Fuzzbutt could go in and out at will. The bugs haven't come out of hibernation yet.

Sounds like many of you Bunnies had corned beef and cabbage in the last couple of days. (Now get to those leftovers.)

All clear for both Kathi and me on our yearly physicals yesterday. One of the questions they ask us old farts to test our memories is, "What year did World War One begin?" You've got to be "s-ing" me. Who knows the answer to that, other than a history buff? (Answer will be at the end of this post.)

No green beer for this guy. I just look at the color and imagine what it would be like to get sick on that stuff.

Hey Floridians, do us northerners a favor.....Keep your contractors down there.

Well, it should hit 70 again today and be dry till about 7PM. Fuzzbutt will be happy about that because Kathi will probably take her for a walk. Oh yea, the year is nineteen fourteen.

Good morning and happy the day after the wearing of the green! From what I saw on the news last night, there are a lot of [ep[le nursing hangovers this morning. Definitely a lot of celebrating, whether you were Irish or not, in the Orlando area last night!!

We ended up having a really nice evening. Good thing M&J and the kids were here for dinner to help us consume all that food. G&E were even later than they said they would be here. Elaine barely had a teaspoon of corned beef, cabbage or potatoes and then said she was full! A bird would have eaten more than that! Gary ate good, but immediately was looking for his favorite thing to go with this meal - popovers. Missy told him that had they gotten here at the time dinner was planned for, she was going to make some, but being they were going to be late, popovers are no good once they get cold. So Gary lost! G&E left shortly after dinner to go back to Melbourne. I asked them why they even bothered to drive back here to only leave again? What a waste of time and gas!
The good news though is that we have plenty of leftovers. By the way, Kathie, the corned beef was not very salty at all which surprised us all.
Bert, Missy and I all enjoyed 2 Irish coffees with our green cupcakes. They sure were good. Now we need a trip to the liquor store to replenish our Jamison's supply. I think we have had that same bottle forever, but all good things come to an end, right? ;)

Kathie - Thanks for the info about the different types of popcorn. We really love the mushroom popcorn when it is candied. Missy did a batch of Orville's stuff for me yesterday afternoon and then melted no salt butter to put over it. I found this stuff called Nu-Salt and put some of that on the popcorn. I must say it was really tasty and I will definitely be using it again from time to time.

Dave - Sounds like you and Kathie are getting a taste of spring right now to tease you about the things to come. Enjoy it while it lasts. That was a pretty stupid question to ask you at the doctor's office. Did they think you were THAT OLD?????

Not a lot planned for today. I will be getting no visits from home health, so at least I don't have to worry about that interfering with our day to do nothing! Might just take a ride to Lowes or HD and see what herbs they have available right now so I can start my herb garden. I'll have to see if Bert is in the mood to start that project right about now. We also need a trip to Aldi's. I realized yesterday that we have absolutely no cheese left for cheese and crackers. That never happens around here and is a sure sign that I was sick and not keeping an eye on things!!

Time for a cup of tea and read the morning news to see what that maniac in Russia may be up to today. Have a super fantastic Friday, gang, and I'll try to stop back later to at least read. Stay safe!

Good morning. Well they started the work on replacing the culvert. Yesterday they brought over the new culvert and for a single car driveway the county is making us put in a 30 foot culvert, so as the one guy said this morning they will have to add a bunch of dirt , this make the culvert almost half the length of the front, ridiculous.

Bruce parked his van in a neighbor's drive and just as he was getting there to leave for his job(s) the guy came out to say it is fine except please park behind his car. I parked my SUV in front of a different neighbor's house.

Am watching a show on Netflix called "Is It Cake". pretty good.

The corned beef and cabbage came out good last night. Tonight I am fixing easier, spaghetti.

All have a great day.

Good Mod-Morning all!

Good to hear everyone made it through St Patty’s Day!
Well….almost everyone. Haven’t hear from Lee, Karen or Bill! But I don’t think any of them have HANGOVERS!

It rained a little here last night. Dry and Sunny right now. Suppose to rain more on and off later today. I want to go outside and see about raking up some of the neighbors WILLOW branches and those nasty thin leaves that are on the lower part of the property closer to the creek.

Watch it start to rain as soon as I get out there.
I made a Coconut Cream Pie earlier. It’s chilling on the refrig. I need to take half of it over to our neighbor. Next time I will just go to our famous PIE Shoppe close by and just buy 1 piece of Coconut Pie and be done with it. Notice I said (1) piece. Ha ha. Art would want a piece of ‘Michigan 4 Berry Pie’.

Bill: I hope you’re still doing well with your recovery. Don’t mess things up by over doing it. Soon you’ll be packing up the car and start to get ready to come back East. Time flies when you’re on vacation. Did you ever get into the swimming pool this trip?

Karen: Not sure I should even ask about the “Bathroom and the crazy contractor”. Hope things are moving along. One hour at a time!

Lee: Getting use to being home yet? That lawn will need cutting soon. Just what you didn’t want to hear.

Nancy: Can’t wait to see pictures of this culvert project. still can’t envision it!

FYI:
Got a update on the Sister that is fighting for her life after she lost her sister last week. She was able to stand up next to the bed and walk to a chair with help and then sat for a while and with some help was able to get back into bed. She is still on oxygen. She is still trying to wrap herself around the fact her sister passed. My Nephews are doing a fantastic job having someone with her at the hospital on a rotation basis. She has no one but the 3 boys and the immediate family. Her life was her sister. Talk about a life changing event. Give each other a extra hug and be extra kind to each other. Life is so precious.

Later Wrabbits.

No swimming pool this year, partly because there have been few days when the weather made it feasible and now, after the surgery I can shower but not get into a bath or a pool.
Two corned beef and cabbage dinners in one week for us. Both were exceptionally good. For yesterday's meal we left here at about 3:30 in order to get to the restaurant in Ft. Pierce shortly after it opened at 4pm and it is good we did as the place was already almost at capacity when we arrived and there was a line of folks waiting for a table when we left.
No further evidence is needed to prove my ignorance about college basketball teams than the fact that the team I picked to end up winning the championship, was eliminated in the first round.

Good afternoon everyone. Either not a lot or too much on my ever wandering mind today. Perhaps it’s the hangover.
I too knew the WW1 answer. I can tell you WW2. I pray to God that I, indeed that none of us, has to answer the same question about WW3.
A few things to tend to this afternoon so if I don’t get moving the list will carry over to tomorrow as well.
You all be good. Be safe. And as Kathie says, give each other a hug and be kind.

Bill - Sorry the pool was not on your list of things happening this year while in Florida. Did you get to go in the pool while you were on your cruise? At least that would have been something, right?
I am not a fan of college basketball and the tournament each March, but I am thrilled with the result of one of the games last night. Back a couple of months ago Elaine's sons rubbed it in when the Gators lost their bowl game. Well now it is my turn! They are all tried & true Kentucky fans, as they lived there for a number of years. I can't wait to go at them over their loss. Best part is the St Peter's College, who beat them was not that far from the high school I went to and was on the same street. Used to pass there almost every day and even dated a couple of St Pater's students when I was a high school senior. Small world, isn't it? Oh, and by the way, the Gators won their game last night! :emoticon 0140 rofl: I still won't be watching any of the games.

Lee - I see you popped in for a brief visit. Now get to work and knock a few things off your to do list.

We are having our first 90 degree day!!!! Bright sun and the AC is cranking away!!

WELL CONSIDER YOURSELVES LUCKY. I JUST LOST A NICE POST OF TODAY’s ACTIVITIES.

Nancy…thanks for the neat picture of the Culvert. Do you have a driveway or do you drive over this “Culvert” to get to the house. Just wondering. I have no idea how those things work.

Art and I worked hard in the yard this afternoon. Got a lot pf dead leaves out of the flower beds and shrubs. Felt good once we were done.

Have a good night folks. BASKETBALL TIME.
