Wow, them guys must pay a lot to get on that top 100 list. Handy to the Warf area, and excellent food for the money. Franciscan, can't miss it, sits all by itself right on the Embarcadero between pier 43 1/2 and pier 45. Neptune Palace end of the upper deck pier 39 excellent food, view of the bay with diner if your lucky and snag a window table. Crab House, almost next to Neptune and then the ever reverent, Bubba Gumps, also on the upper deck. Another great finger fooder is Joe's right on the Embarcadero. For some reason these guys didn't make the top 100 but doesn't matter, they are outstanding.

ANGEL ISLAND

The immigration experience is a common thread binding the histories of most Americans. Whether escaping persecution, poverty or lack of economic prospects, immigrants have come to the United States for the ideals it represents  freedom, democracy, and opportunity. Most Americans know the story of Ellis Island, where immigrants crossing the Atlantic Ocean were processed. But the story of its West Coast counterpart, Angel Island, is little-known.

Located in the middle of San Francisco Bay, Angel Island Immigration Station was routinely the first stop for immigrants crossing the Pacific Ocean. The Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) is the nonprofit partner of California State Parks and the National Park Service in the effort to preserve, restore and interpret the historic immigration station.

BAY AREA HALF OFF

http://baho.mediawebconnect.com/profile

This is a great way to get some reduced rate tickets for various attractions or merchants around town.

CBS Radio San Francisco is partnering with area restaurants / merchants to give you a terrific chance to try a new or favorite restaurant / merchant for half price. Each week an area restaurant / merchant will be featured, and you will have the opportunity to purchase, for example, a $50 gift Certificate for just $25 (plus shipping and handling) online through the Bay Area Half Off Deals website. Your Certificates are mailed directly to you.

MAMA DUCK'S WHALE WATCHING INFO

Ahoy Duck Crew... I know many people book through Capt. Larry in Juneau for whalewatching. This is NOT meant to sway anyone away from arrangements you may have already made.

For those who want to book whalewatching in Juneau through Princess - and save $$$ - Princess is offering private whalewatching tours...

Private Whale Watching
Experience Juneau's star attractions at sea on a private tour with the companions you choose.

Spend 2.5 hours onboard a covered jet boat built to ply the waters of southeast Alaska. The captain tailors your route to give you the best opportunity for a fantastic whale encounter. If a whale is not sighted on your tour the group receives a $1000 refund. Binoculars are available for your use and a camera is highly recommended to capture images of these majestic creatures and their spectacular environment. Enjoy a complimentary snack of smoked salmon, cheese and crackers, chocolate and cookies as well as a selection of beverages.

SPECIAL NOTES
Price is per vessel - only one guest per party should book this excursion. The boat can accommodate up to 14 guests. Please refer to page 22 in the 2009 Alaska Adventures Ashore Brochure for more information.

Due to the very limited capacity and highly specialized nature of this excursion, it is not refundable unless cancelled by 12:00pm on the day after embarkation.

Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Indicate the number of services you wish to purchase (i.e. number of vehicles, vessels, sets of equipment, cabanas, etc). This shore excursion is not sold “per adult†or “per child".

Approximately 3.5 hours

$1749.00 per service (for up to 14 people)

Moderate level of activity; Includes snack; VIP Tour

Boat Ride; Ground Transport (DAT); Sightseeing; Whale Watching Tour

I would book the boats in my name and you can pay me. Based on 14 people/boat, it comes to just under $125.00 per person, which is considerably less expensive than the regular Princess whalewatching shore excursion. I should know tomorrow if the tour is accessible for those with mobility issues. Princess is contacting the tour operator.

We have cancellations from/additions to our numbers, so I'm reluctant to commit to some activities until final payment. Once I find out about the accessibility and report on it, please e-mail me if this tour is of interest. Thank you.

Well...I see our DITS were VERY busy while I was out of the country on my last trip, and I just now found this. I had no idea it was here. :(

My thanks to GLO, Calgon and bOB - and anyone whom I may have missed - for their invaluable input.

We announced it several times on the roll call, but I suspect others didn't see it either. Hoping to gather enough info for it to be valuable even after the Duck Cruise.

This thread is a perfect example of John Naisbitt when he said; "We are drowning in information but starved for knowledge". Cal and Glo, you are too much!!!!

Here's some more stuff that's going on while we'll be in The City before the Duck Cruise:

The Stern Grove Festival http://www.sterngrove.org/ - A lazy Sunday afternoon, an eminently pleasing outdoor setting, and some of the area's top performers – it's a recipe for weekend bliss. This year, in its 70th season, Stern Grove celebrates the arts with wonderful dance and music events. Classical, Latin, jazz, and rock are all in abundant supply, and unbelievably, the entire season is free!

The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival http://sfjff.org/site/pages/index.php - Documenting via film the breadth of Jewish experience, this festival seeks to understand identity and culture through the perspective of emerging and established artists. Affiliated programs and forums add energy and understanding to the proceedings. August's events will be at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco .
