BarbaraK, Kiefer has severe hip dysplacia, and luxating kneecaps. The surgery would be over $10,000 and we just don't have that. He's had two surgeons look at his xrays, so we know it's a correct diagnosis. Honestly, he improved significantly with a lot of walks, for long periods of time, and it built up his muscles to support his hips and get that important joint fluid moving around. He's on Dasuquin with MSM and that has helped a huge amount.
I will look into the hip surgery though for removing just the heads. I understand it's a good thing for the right candidates.
