We've been on almost 20 cruises now (#20 is 17 days away!), and never had an issue with anything. While we may have been naive, we have trusted all the people on the ship and never been disappointed. Our neighbor, traveling with us to Alaska on the Infinity, left her diamond jewelry in a drawer when she debarked. When she got home, she assumed that it had been stolen by Air Canada or their screeners in the three (kid you not!) times the hand carry bag got sent thru the scanner and the one time someone unpacked it to determine what they were interested in. A week after getting home, without a single word to the cruiseline, they got a registered package from Celebrity with the jewelry that the cabin steward had discovered when cleaning the cabin upon their departure. Now THAT's service!

Did you buy the camera with a Visa maybe they will replace it? I know here in Canada were pertected from lost/theft on most purchases for a few months.

We had a bag turn up missing on our last cruise. We took the Carnival shuttle from FLL to the port of Miami. The shuttle unloaded the Victory passengers first. We were on Valor and were one of the last ones off of the shuttle. By the lime we located our luggage and noticed one bag was missing, the shuttle had left and most of the Victory bags were already headed to that ship. I was sure our bag must have gone to the wrong ship. Our bag never did turn up, but Carnival really impressed us with how they handled our situation. We had to wait until after 9PM on the day of embarkation to fill out a report. They later contacted Victory and our hotel in FLL in an attempt to locate our bag. They gave us a $50.00 shipboard credit and sent up a fruit and cheese basket and a bottle of sparkling wine. We also received updates from the purser's desk throughout the week. I felt as though they made every effort to locate our bag. When our bag had not turned up by the last night of the cruise, the purser's office sent a letter to our cabin outlining their repeated attempts to locate our bag and offering us 15% off our next cruise. The missing bag was a carry-on bag with all of our cosmetics and toiletries. While it was inconvenient having to buy expensive replacements on the ship, the shipboard credit did soften the blow somewhat. The 15% discount more than covers the cost of replacing the contents of the bag and the bag itself. The only lingering problem....the ship didn't carry any "regular" deodorant. We had to buy a deodorant made by Lancome....$14.00 for one bottle of roll-on. DD really liked the Lancome product, but I can't find it anywhere. It seems it is not available for sale in the U.S. Her Teen Spirit Speed Stick is more our price range, but I thought a bottle of the Lancome deodorant would be a nifty stocking stuffer this Christmas. I guess we will just have to look for it on our next cruise.
