We did the Orinoco quite a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. That's why we thought we would enjoy the Amazon.

That 14 day cruise is a great itinerary -- but just wish it were on another date.

It is possible he could be on Volendam. Isn't firm yet but might happen. If you wish, I'll let you know as soon as we find out.

The dining room configuration confuses me a little.
We are always a table for just the two of us, Traditional Dining at 8 P.M. Can you recommend a table or point out to me where Traditional Dining is located on Prinsendam. All the other ships, it is the Upper level but, of course, the rooms are configured differently.

If you enjoy a drink before (or after) dinner, which lounge is your choice?
I've been advised on another Board to think about having a cabin on Lido Deck but to go starboard whereas we almost always are port side. Can you comment?

Sorry for the thread drift. I'll try to keep this brief.

We dined in the smaller dining room, slightly forward of the main dining room on the starboard side. This was set aside for traditional dining, yet a portion of the larger dining room was also used for that purpose. We enjoyed the smaller dining room as it was quieter and every table had an ocean view (although not all tables are up against the windows). Our table was near the foot of a spiral staircase that led up to the Explorer's Lounge, where we often went after dinner to listen to live music. We also enjoyed Ocean Bar and its dance floor (not that we're any good... we mainly watched). Both were very convenient to our dining room.

I can't think of why starboard might be preferable for a Lido Deck suite, other than that Neptune Lounge is on port side and might get more foot traffic? Not that there would be much. I can't speak to this first-hand, though, as I didn't venture to this part of the ship.

We too prefer the Vista Class ships to the older HAL vessels although they were and still are some fine OLDER ladies. :doubleup: Not quite in the same class of U HAL experts but looking forward to reaching 4 Star status in Nov. on the Noordam.

After that it will be hard to get red off a Princess, HAL, or Celebrity ship as we will have that delightful addition of free laundry service on all 3 lines that she so dearly admires. Of course the Carnival stockholder benes for Princess & HAL give them a slight edge in the pecking order than Celebrity because of the additional shipboard credits received. :boogie:

You will love the Noordam -- she is very different than her sister Vista ships.
