Do you realize you posted on a thread that has been inactive for over eight years?

Aw, no worries for a newbie. :eek:k:

Not one poster in this thread I recognize though.

I did notice one post that mentioned not being able to blow the whistles on the life vests. Who would want to??? How many other people have had that whistle in their mouth....YUCK!!

Perhaps that yucky thought is why it took 8+ years for the thread to revive?

Hi everyone! I haven't been around for awhile, I'm the one that org. started this thread. Can you imagine my surprise when I just saw it again? I'm like, did I start that? ;)

DH and I have an upcoming cruise on Sept. 4, so I'll be checking in more often. Good to see everyone again.

Well, since the thread was revived I will add some comments. The poster is correct in that the Sail Away Party is nothing like it used to be. No four person Caribbean band. No special Lido activities. Remember when they used to play Anchors Aweigh and there was a real party on Lido?

OK, since this is an old thread I'll add old comments.

I remember my first sail away party on board Azure Seas back in the mid 80's. My brother and his friend were allowed to board with us even they weren't going on the cruise. All ashore 1 hour prior to sailing. We had free rum punches and "popper" streamers we shot over the side.

During the cruise, skeet shooting off the fantail and driving golf balls in to the ocean.

I remember the skeet shooting as well and having guest that could come aboard to visit before sailing. Wow, things have changed.

Yes, I remember the streamers and confetti on my first cruise too! They played Anchors Aweigh and all the corridor marker lights were flashing. I miss the free Wine and Cheese Tasting. It was so classy and educational back in those days.
