Ok yous HAL cruisers let's hear about the Zaandam. I never got lost on the Volendam but I had great guides for that trip. Deck plans seems similar so I am presuming that I'll do OK. Do I assume correctly?

Anything I should look out for besides pictures of Marykate and Ashley..... and of course Bill Clinton's Sax ?

Any secrets to give away.? We will only be onboard for a short time and don't want to miss anything.

?First night on a short cruise..Will Pinnacle grill still be a "Deal"?

Thanks

Bob

If you managed to get around the Volendam OK, you won't have any problem with the Zaandam. And yes, the Pinnacle Grill is always a "good deal". And, don't forget, lunch in the Grill is half-price .... even better!

Zaandam and Volendam are twins except for decor (music for Zaandam, floral for Volendam). You'll be fine thinking back to Volendam.

No longer any deals on first night Pinnacle Grill, but I always think PG is a deal anyway - you've already dined there, food is great. As Calgon pointed out, lunch is half price.

Hope you and Jude enjoy your cruise, short as it will be. :sunny:

some of the ships will offer the lobster mac and cheese

joe tried it a couple of years ago on the westerdam -- his was nothing more than a cheese soup with a few pieces of maccaroni in it and 2 bites of lobster on top in the center -- it was awful

QUACK -QUACK !!!

Thanks for posting the menus. Now, I know what I'll be having at the Duck Luncheon ...

It's gotta be:

Northwest five onion soup,
Sterling-Silver beef tenderloin with Oregon blue cheese crust and,
the chocolate brownie decadence.

Mama Duck, can one order doubles or multiples in the Pinnacle, as can be done in the MDR? If so, then I'll have:

Scallops creme brulee,
Chiffanade of greens/tomato tower salad,
Northwest five onion soup,
Two Sterling-Silver beef tenderloins with that yummy Oregon blue cheese crust,
the fruit plate; and
a Capuccino to go with that Chocolate brownie decadence

pinnacle rules for lunch and dinner:

you can order as many appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes and desserts as you want

but if you want an extra entree -- it is $10 for lunch for each extra entree and $20 for dinner for each extra entree

As I said above, my eyes (and stomach) wouldn't be drawn to that!

They offered lobster mac and cheese last year on the Zaandam. It was actually delicious. You can also order it as a side dish instead of an entree if you wish.
