We have arrived in Galveston, Texas and are ready for our cruise aboard the Norwegian Prima. Later today we will be boarding the Norwegian Prima for a round-trip 4-Night cruise to Mexico. This cruise will be extra special as it will be the Norwegian Prima’s inaugural sailing from the Port of Galveston.
What is extra special is Kelly Clarkson will also be performing during the award ceremony honoring the 100 winners of NCL’s ‘Norwegian’s Giving Joy’ annual recognition program that salutes a 100 teachers from across the U.S.A and Canada who will also be cruising with us.
Galveston Inaugural Cruise
Here are some of the things we will be looking forward to during this cruise:
Broadway-Caliber Entertainment
During our cruise we will have the chance to see two shows. The first is the Tony Award®-nominated musical “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical”. This is an 85-minute immersive production and a first-at-sea experience where the theater itself transforms into a full disco and guests can become a part of the show and dance to Summer’s all-time fan favorite medleys. On the last night of the cruise, we’ll have a chance to see the “Noise Boys,” an award-winning beat boxing experience produced by Nic Doodson, creator of “The Choir of Man,” NCL’s best-rated entertainment show to date.
The First Prima Class Ship
I am looking forward to exploring Norwegian Prima. Since she is the first of six ships in the Brand’s groundbreaking Prima Class. She is a large floating resort at 965 feet (294 meters long) and more than 143,535 tons with capacity for 3,100 guests at double occupancy, Norwegian Prima offers the highest staffing levels and space ratio of any contemporary or premium cruise ship. She also boasts the largest variety of suite categories available at sea as well as a redefined The Haven by Norwegian, NCL’s ultra-premium keycard only access ship-within-a-ship concept.
So much has been written about this new class of ship already, but we are looking forward to sharing our opinions.
Experiencing The New Dining Venues
We are looking forward to experiencing the revamped main dining menu on Norwegian Prima as well as the many new offerings. Unfortunately we won’t be able to experience every specialty restaurant or offering we are looking forward to visiting two of the specialty restaurants during our four night cruise. Norwegian has enhanced guest favorites Le Bistro, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Food Republic as well as NCL’s coveted Observation Lounge.
We will be experiencing NCL’s new contemporary sushi house Nama during our cruise. Nama offers guests elevated sushi dishes prepared by master chefs who create upscale sushi and sashimi masterpieces. The venue is set among a whimsical Japanese backdrop inspired by the restaurant’s menu items, including a marble sushi bar reflective of the marbling in the high-quality sashimi and subtle orange ambient lighting representing the color of masago (fish roe). We will be choosing our second choice, once we get onboard.
Recreational Activities
I am looking forward to experiencing the many recreational activities offered. Norwegian Prima has the fastest slides at sea – The Rush and The Drop – and the Prima Speedway, the first three-level racetrack at sea. I can’t wait to see Ocean Boulevard, the 44,000 square foot outdoor walk way which wraps around the entire ship; The Concourse, which boasts a multi-million dollar outdoor sculpture garden; and expansive pool decks and infinity style pools at Infinity Beach, offer guests a chance to slow down and relax. We have packed our bathing suits and can’t wait to bath at Infinity Beach.
Almost Time To Board
As boarding time approaches, we look forward to bring you highlight of our cruise via our social media channels and a more in-depth look after we return. With this ship, it offers so much in activities, entertainment and dining. It may be difficult to choose!
