Earl - I've cruised Alaska since 1986, and cannot ever remember the casino not being open at night once we leave port.

We're within view of land during parts of the cruise, but, to the best of my recollection, it hasn't affected the casino - except when we're in port.

Goodness me, we certainly have made a giant leap from Alaska to Hawaii. :spyglass:

I'm a 4 star Mariner and Mal will be 1 point away from 4 star after the Veendam. Sooo, by the time we get to Alaska, we'll both be 4 stars.....YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!

Well, if we're talking about the 49th State, why not think of the 50th as well?

Don't forget ... Every $300 in on-board charges adds another day to your Mariner total (up to the number of days of your cruise. So you guys could end up with as much as 21 days credit (7 for the cruise + 7 if you're in a Suite, and + 7 if "himself" does $2,100 in damages to the Martini Bar).

Same scenery, same weather - heh heh heh

Well, let's see.....1 hour limo ride to NYC vs. 6 hour flight to west coast, at least one hotel night, meals, etc.

Not only not the same scenery, same weather, but nowhere near the same trip to the port!

Seriously, we did the 15 day San Diego round trip Hawaii in 2001 and it was one of our favorite cruises. It's not one we plan on repeating in 2013, but it was phenomenal, nonetheless.

Hmmm...let's see. Flight from your originating airport to SEA-TAC (Alaska cruise) versus SAN (Hawai'i cruise) isn't very different.

Right you are, Sis. However, I'm getting worse and worse with flying, so that will no doubt be our last trip to west coast for quite a while. :(

Not really. I was just being a "smart duck" and mentioning some western airports.

Yes, and Seattle is on the left coast, too. Hopefully, we'll have enough FF miles to be able to fly first class, but it's going to be a bit of a struggle since we used so many over these past few years (4 to SanFran and 2 to Vegas and they were all at the maximum of 90,000 each).

If anyone has any Delta Skymiles you want to get rid of, feel free to send them our way!

That must be some sight, seeing the Olive Man trying to fit into a regular seat and sitting there for a 5 hour flight.
