Hi Sweetpea,
I sailed twice on the Grand (I'm 29 and my husband's 35). Indeed, you will find most of your cruisemates are between the ages of 40 and 60 and up, but there is a mix. We mostly hung out with a group of crazy 30-something ladies. *lol* during our May cruise. Our second trip was during the Thanksgiving week. Thanksgiving brought more families aboard.

Concerning the drinks. You can purchase a soda sticker which will give you unlimited soda consumption. I thinks it's like 17 bucks now... I now a lot of people would stock up on soda before boarding the ship but, I kinda like being served a nice cool drink by the pool... Concerning the alcoholic beverages, they're not too expensive, they range in size too (small, medium, big). The average price for a coctail is around 5 $ (try the "loveboat", it is delicious!).

Cozumel... you have exursions to see the Mayan ruins and also some eco-tourism at Chankanaaab lagoon (you can also swim with the dolphins there).

Having done the Eastern and the Western Caribbean trips, I have to say, the Eastern Caribbean wins hands down but you'll have a blast anyway.

Concerning upgardes, the two times we booked an unprecised inside room, we got updgraded to an oceanview stateroom... which is better than nothing. Actually, the second time, we got a room at the very back of the ship on the aloha deck, just right next to the terrace swimming pool. It was great, you step off your room and... bam! Beautiful view! And no problems with the sea rolls and the noise.

I am so jealous of all of you though, you have a great time!

Mel

Hello all,

We have just came back from our wonderful cruise with the Grand Princess. Although the weather was not that great, and we had to miss Princess Cays AND Costa Maya, we still had a blast on those extra sea days.

Once we have unpack and get all our photos develope, we will write our 1st review, to share our experience with you guys!!!

SpongeBob - I am so sorry that we didn't get together during the cruise, by the time we got settle in on Sunday, I had forgot your cabin number !! I hope you had a great cruise also!!!

Now, my only question is, what am I going to do on the internet, now that my cruise is over?! I am now packing my summer clothes back in boxes, and wearing my big bubble jacket (snow in Toronto, AGAIN!!).......I miss the Grand Princess already!!

Take care y'all

Welcome Home Sweet Pea, glad to hear you enjoyed it. We all wondered where you were. :)
Only cure for this is to start researching the next cruise, even if you don't book one, it gives you ideas for the future.
So glad you enjoyed your first cruise and can't wait to read your review. Sorry we didn't bump into you on the ship.

We're so disappointed that we didn't get a chance to meet on the ship, Sweetpea, but I fully agree that it was a great cruise. That extra time in Cozumel was a nice bonus.

Paul and Tanya, it was delightful meeting you two and I hope our paths cross again some day.

And Jim, thanks for your expertise in Cozumel. You definitely know the right place to get margueritas. Toto, you advice on all the little details will make our future cruises just that much better.

Meeting everyone on board was the highlight of the trip. I will treasure the memories.

Glad you had a great time Sweetpea,

Paul and I had a wonderful time too. I am sorry we didn't get to meet with you.
We did get to meet SpongeRob and Margarett, Toto and Jim - what fantastic people you all are and I am so glad to have met you. I hope we can keep in touch and maybe meet again during another cruise.

Speaking of another Cruise - that is a definite for us!! This past cruise on the Grand has definitely made cruise addicts out of us and if our next cruise is half as good as this first one we just had - then life just can't be any better!!!! Even though the weather was a bit rough and we missed a few ports - we had the best time and carry home lots of memories and new friendships.

P.S. - there is nothing like sitting at a table in an outside restaurant at night, drinking margaritas and watching the ship all lit up for the night!

Tanya, I could definitely tell that your first cruise was not going to be your last. I'm glad you guys had such a great time and shared some of that time with us.

I'm already trying to figure out when I might be able to repeat this cruise. I was disappointed to miss Costa Maya since that was going to be our "beach day". I kind of wish Princess would alternate between Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises so we could do a B2B.

Hi Tanya, Good to see you. Yep, time to plan that next one, already starting to feel those Cruise Blues setting in. :( It was so nice to meet you and Paul and spend some time with you. So glad you enjoyed your first cruise and as I said in an email to Paul, if you think this one was great, just wait until you cruise when the weather is on our side. :)

Hey Rob, Guess what? They do alternate. Just not the week before or after we sailed. I tried to see if it was possible to do a b to b on the Grand for ours but they didn't start that until a few weeks after our cruise. :(
Now that would be the best of both worlds. :)

HUGS to you all
Toto

Oh, Toto, I kinda wish you hadn't told me that, now I'm definitely going to be paying a long visit to the "future cruises" person next time out. M caught me checking into cruise prices last night...she says I've got "it" bad. :lol

Ducking and hideing from the Divine Mr. M :lol :lol :lol :lol
Way to go ROB! :thumb
Look at it this way, even doing research on a future cruise helps you get through those cruise blues. And just think, you will be able to quote those cruise prices by heart within a few weeks. ;)

Diva, Have you posted this on the "Are you cruising with me" board here on CA? It might get you more responses. And also check the cruise tracker for anyone else that might be sailing with you.
Hope you love the ship as much as we did. And for us to sail on the same ship twice with so many to choose from, that is saying a lot. :) Have a great cruise!
