OK, it is now 7:30 AM on Sept. 30, one month before embarkation. Exactly one month from now I'll be sitting at the kitchen table, sipping coffee and eating breakfast. We live only about 20-25 minutes from the pier, but I'll be looking at my watch approximately once every 45 seconds, saying "is it time to leave yet?"

I'll probably go upstairs, open the suitcase to look through it and make sure that nothing is missing. Don't know why I bother, because something will be missing. But that's OK. It will be made up for by all the extra stuff we'll bring that will come home unusued. So after closing it back up (I won't go through DW's suitcase, that would be scary) I'll bring it downstairs and throw it in the car. Stupid move. There'll be something in there that I'll need later in the day. So then it will be trying to go through the suitcase sitting in the car, or dragging it back upstairs.

Oh, I know that Saturday morning, Oct. 30 is going to drag by soooooo.... slowly.

Can I go on a cruise now?

You've got that cruise fever Red! I was singing along with you! We are in our last month now. Time to start preparing and getting the "list" together. I went out last night to buy tires for the car for the trip but they were out of the needed size. I will have to order them or go elsewhere. We've been hitting the clearance sales at the mall. Kelly has a few more things to get but I'm pretty well set. I usually overpack anyhow.

While everyone is working on their packing list, don't forget to include a postcard from your hometown or some small token. Jacque Bearstow will be sailing with us and it would be nice to include them in the package to be sent back home.

The next 30 days will go super quick. Even Saturday Morning for you Marc! It will be here before you know it.

You girls are catching up with me fast. I found myself laying out things to take the other day in the back bedroom, that little black beaded bag, tank tops, swim suit I was tempted to open the suit case but I have promised myself not to take so much this time and if I open suit case I will end up needing two big ones instead of one. Do have my Maw's Office supply bag started like with the addicts flag, sign etc.
I will be on the road in 25 days --------Hoping the trees will be in peak color and not gone ukky.

Maw.. suitcase is open... I spent some of the morning monogramming names on the tux shirts so they do not get lost in the laundry onboard.. it we use it :lol then I ironed them and folded them and they are laying on the suitcase.

I took up the sleeves on the tux shirt for me, and now that is in the wash again..
I have cut out a vest for me.. and a vest for Einstein . JacquieP sent some beautiful material for a vest for E.. But I may not do that one until the class cruise, as it goes with my blue dress, and I am not bringing it this time..

I have a few other irons in the fire.. but that is it for now. :grin And if I bring extra suitcases this time... well, we are driving home .. more room.

I discovered a pr of black dress shoes I forgot I had bought so I am putting them on and wearing around a little each day. I have to rewash and press a loty of things but holding off until the last week before we leave here . Trying to figure out the shoe thing so I don't drag more pairs then I wear. Decision decsions. Sound like Suer is ahead of us both Red. I plan on bringing one empty suitcase to take water, cola etc aboard and bring souveneers home in.

Suggestion for San Juan

Considering the brief call in San Juan, how about a visit to
Morro Castle? It's an interesting fort to check out, especially
if you're a history buff.

If I remember correctly, it's a 15-20 min walk from the dock.
5 minutes by cab.

I was there on my last visit to SJ. The views of the harbour are
fantastic! This fortress is almost identical to it's "cousin"
in Havana. So, when you get there, close your eyes and imagine that you're Sir Francis Drake, or Bluebeard!

:-D

Sure is great to see all of you are in the "getting ready" mode. I have given a few thoughts about wardrobe, but that is the extent of my prep. :lol :lol
While all of you are in the mood, I spent the day cleaning the bedroom/sitting room and the library. In the library I decided to straighten up the desk and amongst the thank you notes from the kids, I found a letter Dean wrote to me while he was in Saudi Araba in 1979. See it takes me forever to accomplish anything as I mess around so guess I better get serious about cruising.
Off to watch the debate.

We've done a little in the planning department, but no big push yet. When it gets down to a week left then we will get serious. It has gotten easier each year. Takes less time to pack up and get ready. It does seem like the last month before the cruise takes longer and longer each year though.

Maw, you can buy some stuff called "shoe stretch" you spray it on new shoes, it makes them rather wet, you then wear then around for a bit until it dries.. you can repeat this a couple of time until they are comfortable..

I have used it when I found out that a pair of heels were not good for long time wear.

And to cut down on shoes, I try to carry something in a neutral tone that will go with a few outfits..

I should be finishing my vest now instead of sitting here :lol
most of my stuff is hanging in a closet about 3 foot from that suitcase.. ready to be tossed in.

Yesterday I got a shipment of glass, so as soon as I finish sewing, I can get to work on my next project :lol so that the tiny cuts on my fingers will have time to heal before the cruise :grin

Will look for shoe stretch today. I found a very nice pr of kahki slacks in my closet when I was changing it around I do not remember buying. I really must dig in those closets oftener I seem to have a wardrobe of clothes I have forgotten.
We are off to pick up jewlry from shop, clothes from cleaners. Getting a little more ready everyday. No swimming again today hope these shingles dry up soon.

Busy all the time aren't you Red. I sold my sewing machine last fall as I nevedr used it . Have a great DIL who helps on the necesary adjustments of things.

maw, I did not know that you had shingles.. nasty things, I think I read where swabbing the area with original listerine mouthwash did wonders for them.

Well, I just finished making the black and gold vest for me to wear with my tux :lol but am thinking that I might as well make a matching bow tie too :grin. Yep, I do try to stay busy, and often wonder about those who are bored :grin

I wish I had more time to sew. I did a great deal when the kids were growing up. Every year I had about 10 costumes to make. And then there was prom dresses as they got older. When things settle down I hope to get back into it.

I recieved a phone call from the Holiday Inn in Cocoa beach a couple hours ago. They cancelled my son's & bride-2-be's pre-cruise stay for December. The Hotel is closed until January due to the hurricanes. I guess I have some hotel searching to do tonight. I'm not telling them until I book something else. They have enough to worry about with the Wedding plans.

Found the shoe stretch wil give a try tomorrow. They had not got my bracelet done. Now why do they tell you they will have something in a week and when you go in it is not ready.

Been broke out with these things for over 2 weeks now. Paw says we got a new roof and they put the shingles on me.

Watching the time trials for the races now. Watching for my kids and grandkids in the background scenes. They are all there now for the week end. They are having a big fish fry for their camp group. Abt 40 people.

Think I will start rewashing and ironing things tomorrow to pack.
